  • Portugal 0-0 France

    21. As France work the ball across the box, Hernandez tries his luck from distance.

Costa punches the ball clear as opposed to catching it as the shot was struck with some venom, albeit straight at him.

However, it is the first save the Portuguese keeper has had to make in the game.

  • Portugal 0-0 France

    19. Rafael Leao is causing problems for the French defence.

It is the one area of attack where Portugal have real pace.

On the opposite flank, Bernardo Silva does not offer this.

  • Portugal 0-0 France

    17. Portugall swing a corner in but it is headed clear at the near post.

Defensively France will be difficult to dominate aerially.

  • Portugal 0-0 France

    15. Cancelo is defending well for Portugal in the early stages.

The former Man City defender is first to the ball every time.

Leao does well again and finds Bernardo Silva in the box but he is closed down and cannot get a shot away.

  • Portugal 0-0 France

    13. Cancelo does well to get to the ball before Mbappe.

It ricochets off the French striker and goes out for a goal kick.

He is already becoming frustrated by the lack of pressing from his attacking partners.

  • Portugal 0-0 France

    11. This is a game that would a surprise to no one if it ended in a goalless draw.

Leao plays a great backheel into the path of Mendes but his cross is poor and goes straight out for a goal kick.

There was nobody in the box for him to pick out anyway.

  • Portugal 0-0 France

    9. In the games up until this stage, neither of these teams have been scoring at will.

France have not even managed a goal in open play in Euro 2024 to this point, profiting from two own goals and a penalty.

Fernandes stands over a free kick for Portugal but the delivery is poor and he does not beat the first man.

  • Portugal 0-0 France

    7. When in possession, neither side seems to be in any rush to get forward.

Passing the ball around in triangles, trying to make their opponents chase it down.

France are not pressing when they don't have the ball, giving Portugal plenty of time to weigh up their options.

  • Portugal 0-0 France

    5. Portugal come forward for the first time in the game.

Leao looks to find a teammate in the box but his pass is misplaced and easily dealt with.

  • Portugal 0-0 France

Two teams looking to book their place in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.

    France get the game started.

  • Ronaldo versus Mbappe rematch

It is not the fist time we have seen these two lock horns.

Kylian Mbappe will feel he has plenty more of these tournaments to be part of but the same cannot be said of Cristiano Ronaldo.

This realistically is going to be his last Euros and he would love nothing more than to fire his country to victory once again.

  • Drama awaits in Hamburg

Two nations with a rich history in this competition go head-to-head in Volksparkstadion this evening.

For some of Portugal's veteran players this is their last chance to win a second Euro trophy.

Meanwhile, Didier Deschamps is looking to become the first person win this tournament as both a player and a manager.

  • What happened in the other quarter-final

Hosts Germany are OUT of the Euros after a thrilling defeat against Spain.

Florian Wirtz had temporarily rescued Germany following Dani Olmo's opener.

But Mikel Merino's header has sent the Germans crashing out of the competition.

  • From Jack Rosser in Hamburg

The French fans have been around the stadium for hours before the kick off, waving their flags and singing La Marseillaise on the long walk from the nearest train station.

Almost every shirt on that near two kilometre walk from station to stadium bore the name of either Mbappe or Ronaldo - all eyes will be on them tonight.

France's tournament so far has been built on their back four and the midfield pairing of N'Golo Kante and Adrien Rabiot - with the latter suspended it will be interesting to see how they get on.

Bernardo Silva spoke to the press yesterday and was grilled on why he is yet to click with Bruno Fernandes, those two will need to be at it if they are to test a defence which has conceded just once - a penalty - so far in Germany.

  • France XI

Randal Kolo Muani steps in for Marcus Thuram, while Eduardo Camavinga replaces the suspended Adrien Rabiot.

Maignan, Kounde, Upamecano, Saliba, Hernandez, Kante, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Griezmann, Kolo Muani, Mbappe.

  • Portugal XI

Portugal boss Roberto Martinez has named an unchanged side from the Slovenia win.

Costa, Cancelo, Pepe, Dias, Mendes, Vitinha, Palhinha, Silva, Fernandes, Leao, Ronaldo.

  • Road to the final

This is the current road to the final in Berlin

  • France's form

France have also struggled in front of goal and remain without an open play goal scored by one of their players.

Their three goals in Germany consist of two own goals and an Mbappe penalty.

However, they are unbeaten in seven matches dating back to a March defeat to Germany.

  • Portugal's form

Roberto Martinez's side have already lost three times in 2024, including in their final group match against Georgia.

Meanwhile, their free-scoring attack from the start of the tournament has gone cold.

The goalless draw with Slovenia means it is now almost 250 minutes since Portugal last scored at Euro 2024.

  • Mbappe on his admiration for Ronaldo

Speaking ahead of tonight’s quarter-final, the France skipper said: "It's the admiration I've always had for Cristiano, for the player. Over time, I've had the chance to get to know him and talk to him many times. We're still in touch.

"He's always trying to give me advice and keep up to date with what's going on. Playing against him is an honour for everything he's done in football.

"No matter what happened before or what happens after, he'll always be a legend of the game. But of course we hope to win and reach the semi-finals."

  • Shootout hero

Portugal's hero in their shootout win over Slovenia as undoubtedly Diogo Costa.

The goalkeeper saved all three spot-kicks to set his side up to win 3-0 after 120 minutes of goalless action.

Still only 24, Costa is playing at his first Euros this summer and has already kept two clean sheets.
