  • Game, set, match, Djokovic - Djokovic 6-4 7-6 6-4 Musetti

Time to serve it out, then...

On the front foot from Musetti, he comes out swinging and takes the first point.

Then Novak goes long - that's seven straight points.

Chants of "Lo-ren-zo" from the crowd... is this spicing up right at the end?

Djokovic hopes not. He puts a smash away and then nails a big T serve. 30-30.

Wow what a flashing return, stretching out on the forehand and bashing the 108mph wide serve back past Djokovic on the angle. Break point...

What a rally, Musetti desperate to get the break but Djokovic defends brilliantly before the Italian nets and goes down on his haunches. Chance gone.

Djokovic gets in to the net and dominates the rally, letting the forehand fly long.

He has a wry smile on his face and seconds later, he boooooooks his spot in Sunday's final when Musetti goes long.

We have a repeat of Djokovic vs Alcaraz on Sunday afternoon. Cannot. Wait.

  • Djokovic* 6-4 7-6 5-4 Musetti

Already down 0-15, Musetti shanks a forehand on the back foot and it sails well out.

Musetti has Djokovic scrambling but it is his own head that is scrambled when he dumps a forehand into the net. 0-40.

    First match point... saved.

Second match point... just about saved. A tentative high drop volley looks to be the wrong call and Djokovic races to it but nets.

Third match point... big second serve on the line, return long. Deuce.

Djokovic nets a forehand - after being distracted by a shout from the crowd. He is not happy.

    Musetti holds.

  • Djokovic 6-4 7-6 5-3 Musetti*

Djokovic not faced a break point for a very, very long time.

He is now just one game from victory...

  • Djokovic* 6-4 7-6 4-3 Musetti

Djokovic is just breaking Musetti down, long rally by long rally, sucking the energy out of the Italian.

Musetti charges the net with a good volley but that's as good as it gets.

Once again, a simple hold. 4-2 Djokovic.

Ironic cheers at 30-15 when the ball skids on the line, Djokovic challenges it and the replay graphic comes up on the screen. Good ol' British banter.

A lovely disguised drop shot from the Italian. He stays in touch.

  • Djokovic* 6-4 7-6 3-2 Musetti

    Bit of controversy, here.

Djokovic's forehand return was called long and he challenged it.

But the Hawk-Eye replay just doesn't come! The players wait and wait and wait and wait.... and still nothing.

Umpire Alison Hughes gets on her phone to ask what's going on and is reliably informed the ball was indeed out - but the replay can't be shown.

A smattering of jovial boos from the Centre Court crowd.

One feels Djokovic would kick up more of a fuss if he wasn't two sets and a break up.

Musetti comes through a dramatic hold.

  • Djokovic 6-4 7-6 3-1 Musetti*

Another double fault at 30-15 on the Djokovic service game. But a neat backhand volley is cut away for 40-30.

A timely serve and volley is the perfect play. Hold. Three games away.

  • Djokovic* 6-4 7-6 2-1 Musetti

A double fault at 30-15 gets it to 30-30. But a delicious backhand drop shot is simply too good.

Perfect backhand from the Serb for 0-15 but Musetti shows some grit to come through the game with some big serving.

He is clinging on, here. Can he get himself back into it?

    One has their doubts...

  • Djokovic breaks - Djokovic* 6-4 7-6 1-0 Musetti

Musetti delivers a beautiful backhand drop shot that spins away in style.

But Djokovic gets it to deuce with a routine bounce smash and again by chasing down a short ball and swatting it away.

    THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS.

Djokovic gets to break point then is sprinting side to side - that knee is all good by the way - and then delivers a crushing blow on the 20th shot of the rally with a supreme backhand cross-court passing winner.

That's the break. Turning. The. Screw.

  • Game and second set, Djokovic - Djokovic 6-4 7-6 Musetti

Already a mini-break down, Musetti spoons a backhand well wide and is suddenly 3-0 down.

Coming back from this situation against Djokovic in a tie-break is the equivalent of climbing Everest.

But Musetti gets one back in unbelievable fashion, producing a winner from way out to the right of the tramlines. 3-1.

    Unreturned serve. 4-1.

They change ends at 4-2 as Djokovic goes long on a backhand after another baseline exchange.

Musetti knows that is painful. He comes in and gets to the ball in plenty of time but slices long. 5-2.

A backhand slice dumped into the net. 6-2. Four set points...

An easy smash boomed away and that's that. Djokovic is two sets up - and one set away from a repeat of the Wimbledon final.

  • Djokovic* 6-4 6-6 Musetti

Musetti flicks away a forehand winner for 15-0 but Djokovic grinds him down and eventually the Italian's resistance cracks.

Ooof that was close! Another thrilling rally sees Djokovic brought in then lobbed and Musetti bangs the smash right on the line - needlessly close.

Musetti pushes a backhand slice long. 30-30.

He comes in and Djokovic pings it at his feet - the half-volley fails to get the elevation to climb over the net. Set point...

Drama! A high ball goes right up and lands just long, called "out" and incorrectly challenged by the Serb. Deuce.

Musetti scrambles through, sealing the game as Djokovic sends a forehand return long. Tie-break...

  • Djokovic 6-4 6-5 Musetti*

A good body serve to start the game before Djokovic despatches a forehand return up the line.

Musetti keeps his composure, though, and gets through for 5-5. Well done.

Djokovic nets a drive forehand volley for 0-15 and falls 0-30 down, but is back on track - helped by two clutch serves, including an ace for 30-30.

An ace at 40-30 - what a comeback in that game. Emphatic stuff.

  • Djokovic 6-4 5-4 Musetti*

What a return, that is. Djokovic nails a wide stretching backhand into the opposite corner to get to 30-30 on the Musetti serve.

A good kick second serve and then a drop shot that Djokovic chases down but pushes long. Musetti survives for now. 4-4.

Djokovic, though, has no trouble breezing through his own service game.

Pressure back over to Musetti, who must serve to stay in the second set. Can he do it?

  • Medvedev: Unpleasant but not over the line

Daniil Medvedev is in press and has given some clarity on that incident for which he got a code violation in the first set.

Here's what he had to say...

I don’t know if it was a double bounce or not it was tricky. At Roland Garros she once did the same so I had this in my mind.

I said something in Russian, unpleasant, but not over the line.

I had no concerns over being defaulted as I didn’t say anything too bad.

    Daniil Medvedev
  • Djokovic 6-4 4-3 Musetti*

There's a reason he is a seven-time champion here and has 24 Grand Slams overall.

He digs deep into the well of his vast experience and mental strength and is suddenly 4-3 ahead in this second.

  • Djokovic breaks back - Djokovic* 6-4 3-3 Musetti

The inevitable has happened - Djokovic breaks back.

Musetti misses a backhand overhead volley this time and then chases down a short ball and flicks it wide.

Down 0-40, he can do nothing but watch in awe as Djokovic booms a forehand return straight back past him.

    Back on serve.

  • Djokovic 6-4 2-3 Musetti*

Musetti gets his nose in front thanks to a couple of loose Djokovic errors.

He gets to 40-0 but cannot get the ball back for 40-15.

OH MY WORD. HOW DID HE DO THAT?!

Musetti runs across to hit a monster forehand then sprints over to nail a backhand squash-style, sending it past Djokovic at the net and on to the tramline. What a shot to hold.

"That is ridiculous," bellows Kyrgios on commentary - he is spot on.

Djokovic holds in relatively routine fashion.

  • Djokovic 6-4 1-2 Musetti*

A much-needed cheap point for Djokovic at 15-15 - was there a smattering of "Muuuuus" in the crowd before that, maybe?

Djokovic pops a backhand up the line and that's him on the board for set No2.

P.S told you the photos would be good...

  • Djokovic* 6-4 0-2 Musetti

Musetti is IN. THE. ZONE. He produces an emphatic overhead backhand smash and that one will look good for the cameras, I'm sure.

Djokovic pings a backhand return into the corner then goes corner to corner to corner before a gorgeous drop volley.

A wayward forehand gives Djokovic break point but Musetti battles back - almost pulling off a screamer forehand on the run.

A netted backhand offers up a second break point - saved by another big serve. Djokovic challenges his return... but that was very very long. Frustration for the Serb.

Djokovic puts a forehand long at long last and that's an important hold.

  • Musetti breaks - Djokovic 6-4 0-1 Musetti*

The TV cameras cut to Djokovic's kids Stefan and Tara in his box - although they appear somewhat distracted from events of the court.

Speaking of distracted, the Serb loses his focus momentarily to dump a backhand volley in the net for 15-30.

And then a first double fault of the match from Novak presents two break points...

A big first serve saves the first but Musetti turns on the style on the second and lets rip with a stunning backhand clean winner to seal the early break.

  • FIRST SET NOVAK! - Djokovic* 6-4 Musetti

Novak Djokovic ramps up the pressure from the very first point of the game, moving Lorenzo Musetti from side to side before striking a backhand winner, 0-15.

The Italian then nets a backhand slice, 0-30... and a double fault follows and it's triple set point...

Musetti saves the first with a smart drop shot and pass combo. But he then misses a dropshot and Djokovic takes the first set 6-4!

  • Djokovic 5-4 Musetti*

Is he really 37-years-old??? Djokovic chases down a brilliant Musetti pick-up and managed to put it nice and deep in the court... and wins the point! It's 0-15.

In the blink of an eye it's 0-30...

Musetti quickly gets it back to 30-30. A botched Djokovic drop shot then gives the Italian game point, 40-30. The Serb then fails to get a serve back and it's 5-3.

The underdog gees up the crowd after winning a superb point with a forehand winner down the line for 0-15.

It's 40-15 very quickly, with Musetti hitting a slice into the net, two set points.

The 25th seed saves the first, with Djokovic striking a forehand narrowly wide. He then saves the second too, ripping a huge forehand of his own the line to send his illustrious opponent scrambling.

Djokovic gets pushed back by Musetti in the next point before firing an error, and the Italian has a break point! He then nails a brilliant forehand winner and we're back on serve!

  • Djokovic 5-2 Musetti*

Djokovic works the first point of the sixth game brilliantly before finishing it with a smash, 0-15. A forehand error then puts Musetti in trouble, 0-30.

The Serb is now turning on the style, executing two consecutive brilliant volleys, the second a winner, three break points coming up, 0-40.

Musetti saves the first, but oh my word Djokovic wins a sensational point to convert the second! The seven-time Wimbledon winner breaks!

At 15-15 Musetti tries a stylish banana forehand, but it's just long! He looks gutted!

    Djokovic holds to 30 and it's 5-2.

  • Djokovic 3-2 Musetti*

At 15-0, Djokovic plays a strange dropshot... and is duly punished.

The Serb, 37, is peppering balls to Musetti's backhand, much like he used to test Roger Federer's.

He is standing up to it so far, and holds for 2-2.

At 40-15 in the following game, Musetti dazzles the crowd with a gorgeous backhand winner down the line.

Djokovic wins the following point, however, and it's 3-2 on serve.

  • Djokovic 2-1 Musetti*

Italian Musetti settles into the match with a good hold to 30 in his first service game.

Nick Kyrgios on commentary is talking about how the underdog's elaborate strokes may be rushed by Novak Djokovic on a grass court.

Plenty of stylish points so far... Djokovic holds comfortably and we are on serve at 2-1.

  • Djokovic 1-0 Musetti*

Djokovic gets very lucky on the very first point as his ripped forehand slams into the net tape and dribbles over.

At 15-15, the Serb somehow chases down a drop volley from Musetti and produces an incredible backhand cross-court pass. Special.

Djokovic nets for deuce but closes out the game, smashing one down and then putting the easy volley away.
