Tampa Bay Rays broadcasters come up with elaborate theory after spotting MLB fan dressed as clown who ‘looks very sad’
TAMPA Bay Rays broadcasters believe why a baseball fan rocked a clown outfit - and they might be right.
TV cameras spotted an MLB fan dressed as a clown during the Rays-Houston Astros game on Monday night.
The Rays were losing 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Tampa Bay's Bally Sports Sun live television broadcast showed a Rays fan standing in the stands wearing clown face makeup.
The fan was shown talking to a friend as he also sported a clown wig with a Rays hat over it.
Tampa Bay TV analyst Doug Waechter was at a loss of words when the baseball fan popped up on the screen.
The TV analyst then guessed why the fan wore the clown attire.

"Probably came in last place and had to go as a clown to the ballgame," Waechter said.
"He looks very sad too.
"That's not a happy clown."
Waechter's guess that the fan had the worst record in his fantasy football league last year and was punished for the failure appeared to be right.
The MLB fan's white shirt could read in rainbow colors, "I suck at fantasy."
Fans were in hysterics over the Rays fan's clown outfit on social media.
"That's brutal," one commented.
"Don't lose at fantasy football," another wrote.
"He's talking to a woman, so it doesn't seem like he's doing too badly lol," a third added.
The Rays fan seemed to take a page out of another person's book as a Chicago Cubs fan donned a clown outfit to an MLB game last month.
And the fan wore a clown costume in the Wrigley Field bleachers which read, "I suck at fantasy football."
Fantasy football punishments have been a trend in the social media era.
