Murray fans were hoping he would recover in time for Wimbledon, after it was revealed on Friday June 21 that Andy would require surgery for a spinal cyst.

Wimbledon won't see Murray grace the courts for his round-one clash with Tomas Machac, which was scheduled last on Centre Court around July 2, 6pm.

Murray is still due to play doubles with brother Jamie, which is scheduled to begin Friday July 5, and no doubt Andy's wife Kim will be there to cheer him on after a delayed start and talks of a potential retirement.

Kim Sears is the wife of tennis star Andy Murray.

She was born on December 10, 1987, in the village of Barcombe.

When they met they were both in their teens, Kim 17 years old and Andy 18.

The couple briefly split up in 2009 before they reconciled and have been inseparable ever since.

In an October 2019 interview with The Telegraph, Murray praised his wife for supporting him throughout his career.

He said Kim is "very understanding of everything" he's done, adding: "Like going away for training blocks in Miami after a really long year and things like that.

"It might not seem like much but we don't get to see each other all of the time and it does make a big difference when you don't have that, like, drama in your personal life and lots of things going on away from the court."

She has been brilliant like that, allowed me to pursue my career and been unbelievably supportive of me doing that, so I've been very lucky.

Has Kim Sears ever been embroiled in controversy?

Kim was once involved in a controversial incident while supporting her husband's tennis career.

In 2015, during Murray's match against Tomas Berdych in the Australian Open semi-final, Sears appeared to swear about Murray's opponent.

She was caught on camera seemingly mouthing: "F***** have that you Czech flash f***."

Kim appeared to make light of her outburst by wearing a "Parental Advisory" jumper during the tournament's final.

After he was appointed a Sir in 2017, Murray also joked about the incident.

He said: "She’s going to have to…no more swearing during my matches any more, for any of you who saw that a few years ago."
