Brand new £3.85bn SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles confirmed as WrestleMania 37 venue as WWE goes to California

WWE have confirmed that Wrestlemania 37's going to Hollywood.

The brand-new £3.85 billion SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles, will host next year’s extravaganza on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

WWE chairman Vince McMahon said: “On behalf of everyone at WWE, we are excited to bring WrestleMania back to Los Angeles.

“WrestleMania will set the bar for future sports and entertainment events held at SoFi Stadium as we add this facility to the list of iconic venues that have hosted our pop-culture extravaganza.”

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said: “There is nothing quite like WrestleMania Week.

“It is a one-of-a-kind event that provides an economic boost to the region — and fans from around the world will find a city that is ready to host them and welcomes the spectacle.”

This year’s WWE extravaganza will take place on April 5 in Tampa, Florida at the Raymond James Stadium.

The SoFi Stadium, located at the former site of the Hollywood Park Racetrack, approximately 3 miles from LAX, will be the new home of NFL teams the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Once building work has been completed and it opens later this year, the stunning complex will boast a capacity of 70,240.

But that can be expanded for major events, which could mean 100,240 may be able to cram in for the Showcase of the Immortals.

It won’t be the first time that the biggest wrestling show on the planet has descended on LA.

WrestleMania II, VII, XII, and 16 all took place in the area.

And the 21st edition of the spectacular was there in 2005 when both John Cena and Batista won world titles for the first time.

WrestleMania 21 saw The Undertaker beat Randy Orton and Edge win the first ever Money in the Bank ladder match.
