'NOT GREAT'

Conor McGregor reignites Khabib feud by claiming bitter UFC rival ‘retired early’ and only had ‘a good few months’

CONOR MCGREGOR has ripped Khabib Nurmagomedov's legacy, claiming his bitter rival only had a 'good few months' in the sport.

Nurmagomedov, 33, called time on his Hall-of-Fame career last October as the pound-for-pound king following a second-round submission over Justin Gaethje.

The Russian retired with a perfect 29-0 record and having only lost TWO of the rounds he fought in the UFC.

But McGregor insists the Dagestani's unblemished legacy is 'good, not great."

When asked to evaluate his arch enemy's skill set, the Irishman said: "Low KO rate.

"Can’t kick whatsoever. Never moved up in weight class despite almost dying trying to make weight.

"Pulled out of fights multiple times. Retired early.

"All of which leads him to a good fighter, not great. He’d a good few months, that’s it."

McGregor and Nurmagomedov took part in the biggest fight in MMA history in the main event of UFC 229 October 2019.

Nurmagomedov retained his lightweight title with a fourth-round submission victory before sparking a mass brawl a few moments later.

McGregor attempted to goad the Dagestani destroyer into a rematch but was unsuccessful in his bid to avenge his second octagon defeat.

And Nurmagomedov further dashed his hopes of a rematch late last month by doubling down on his retirement.

He told ESPN: "Nothing and nobody [can bring me back].

"We have a goal to take back this belt. His name is Islam Makachev.

"He has to take the. belt back to Dagestan. And I truly believe, I truly believe, [in] his skills. He can do this.

"I really believe the end of next year we're gonna take this belt home."

McGregor, 33, is currently recovering from the horrific broken leg he suffered in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier.

The Dubliner's recovery is currently 'ahead of schedule', so much so The Notorious is eyeing an April return to sparring.

He recently said: “I will be full mixed martial arts sparring by April. Easily!

"By then a return will be imminent. But I must be patient. I will beat this!”
