Late in the 2014 season, Barty decided to take an indefinite break from tennis.

She went on to win three Grand Slam titles, including Wimbledon and the Australian Open.

She spent 121 weeks as the world No1.

Barty was to shock the world of tennis when she announced her retirement in March 2022, at the time ranked as the world no.1, she said "I don’t have the physical drive, the emotional want and everything it takes to challenge yourself at the very top of the level any more. I am spent."

Kissick supported Barty in her tennis career, declaring himself her "unofficial ball boy" when attending her training sessions.

After announcing her retirement from the sport in 2022, Barty and Kissick married.

Barty posted a wedding photo alongside Kissick on Instagram with the caption "husband and wife".
