Who is Cooper Flagg?

Cooper Flagg is a high school basketball player and member of the 2022 USA Basketball Men’s U17 National Team.

He's currently the No. 1 prospect regardless of class and is reportedly fielding recruitment offers from various universities, including Duke, UCLA, UConn, Villanova, Providence, and more.

Who is Cooper Flagg?

Born on December 21, 2006, in Newport, Maine, Cooper Flagg is an American basketball player who is currently a student at Montverde Academy in Florida.

He initially attended Nokomis Regional High School in Maine but transferred to Montverde at the end of his freshman year.

He was notably the first freshman to clinch the Maine Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year award after averaging 21 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

Known for his incredible talent on the court, he secured his first NCAA Division I scholarship offer from Bryant University when he was just in eighth grade.

According to Sports Illustrated's scouting report, the 6-foot-8 forward is a "potentially generational talent that is an absolute game changer on both ends of the floor" and a "triple-double threat with his passing upside."

In 2022, Cooper played in the FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup and won the USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year award, the youngest one to do so.

When will Cooper Flagg be in the NBA draft?

In August 2023, Cooper Flagg announced that he was reclassifying from 2025 into the 2024 high school class.

The move effectively made him eligible for the 2025 NBA draft.

He will be 18 by December of his freshman year of college, allowing him to declare for the draft.

Per industry experts, he could potentially be the No. 1 overall pick.

Who are Cooper Flagg's brothers?

Cooper Flagg has two brothers: his twin brother Ace and his older brother Hunter.

All Flagg brothers are basketball players.

Ace is also a student at Montverde Academy and plays as a small forward. He reportedly has offers from five schools, including George Washington, Maine, and West Virginia.

Meanwhile, Hunter also played for Nokomis Regional High School. He was a senior when the twins were freshmen.

“It’s not like they’re typical freshmen because obviously their skill level is like they’ve been playing for five years,” he said of his brothers in 2021 to Bangor Daily News.

“We give them respect, they give us respect, we’re pretty much one big family. No one talks down to each other, there’s none of that. It’s really a nice community we have with all of our players.”

Their parents were also athletes.

Their father, Ralph, played NJCAA basketball at Eastern Maine Community College, while their mother, Kelly, played college basketball at the University of Maine.
