The first and only British WWE world champion's team lost to World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, and Randy Orton in the Men's WarGames match.

After the bell the crowd exploded as CM Punk made an epic return to WWE following nine years of animosity.

According to PWInsider, the drama didn't end there as the Scottish grappler stormed out of the ring and went straight backstage before Punk's grand comeback.

The 38-year-old then slammed his locker room door and immediately left the arena in a hoodie.

The same source claims the two-time world champion's frustrations were "loud and obvious", which led to plenty of talk backstage.

There is no clear reason behind the ex-WWE Tag Team Champion's frustrations.

McIntyre teased an exit from the company after WrestleMania 39 when he lost a Triple Threat Match against Sheamus and the victor Gunther, who retained his Intercontinental Championship.

The heavyweight then went dark on social media and raised questions about his WWE contract.

However, McIntyre put an end to the speculation three months later when he returned at Money in the Bank, which took place at The O2 in London.

WWE chief content officer and head of creative Triple H insisted back in July after the UK event that the Scotsman's future in WWE was never in doubt.

The professional wrestling legend said: "I read stuff all the time that’s printed and put out there. ‘Sources say.’ 75 per cent of it is completely off base.

"If Drew had an issue, it’s news to me. He was out with an injury and getting stuff fixed. While he was out, he had something else to get fixed so we did it, and here he is.

"He’s an amazing performer. He is one of the highlight superstars in this era. Thrilled to have him back and hopefully, he’s here for the rest of his career."
