Runners-up Ciaran Davies and Nicole Samuel were the favourites to win before the finale aired, but results of a massive poll showed nearly a third of Sun readers believed in Mimii and Josh's victory. The duo got together after Mimii went through a difficult time in the villa and was dumped by former partner Ayo Odukoya. However, she soon picked herself back up when Josh made it clear that he was the one for her.

Jess Harding and Sammy Root won the summer 2023 Love Island. Sammy and Jess made it to the final two, beating the bookies' favourites Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki. The couple's win came as a huge shock, even to them, after they were voted the least compatible pair in the villa by their fellow islanders.

Addressing their ups and downs, Jess told host Maya Jama: “I feel like the road I have been on is so unexpected, but we’re here now. “When we got voted least compatible couple, I feel like that was a kick in the teeth, I knew what we had was special." Relationship status: In October 2023, it was revealed that the couple had split up.

The first series of 2023 saw Sanam Harrinanan and Kai Fagan crowned Love Island winners in South Africa. After host Maya revealed the result of the public vote, the emotional couple couldn't believe their luck as they shared a sweet embrace. Ron Hall and Lana Jenkins came behind the duo in second place. Speaking about his first impressions of SanamKai told Maya during the finale: "Literally she blew me away straight away." While Sanam added: "For me, it was always Kai. I always said he was my number one." In April 2024, the couple shared the glorious news that they are engaged to be married. Relationship status: Still together.

2022 - Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu

Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu's time in the villa was anything but a smooth ride, but they managed to win the public's hearts - and the ITV2 reality show. The pair were crowned champs and took how the £50K. Ekin said: "It feels so surreal finding the man of your dreams and just growing." On what she liked most about Davide, she added: "Apart from the perfect body, I would definitely say there was an instant spark and a genuine butterfly feeling." She summed up their relationship as "absolutely bonkers". Relationship status: The couple had a very on-off relationship, and finally called time on their romance for good in June 2023.

The couple were hot favourites leading into the final despite their relationship being on the rocks throughout the entirety of series 7  - although they did come on strong towards the final week and were announced winners of Love Island 2021. Liam's head was turned in Casa Amor when bombshell Lillie Haynes entered the villa - however after pleading with Millie in countless occasions, Millie decided to stay loyal with her man. Relationship status: The couple announced they had split in July 2022, less than a year after winning the show.

2020 - Paige Turley and Finn Tapp

The couple were announced as the winners of 2020 after falling in love on the show. The pair beat runners-up Luke Trotman and Siânnise Fudge to win the show. The pair stuck together throughout the show and didn't have their heads turned once. Relationship status: Sadly after over three years together, the couple split in April 2023.

The professional rugby player and the beauty therapist were crowned the winners of series five choosing to split the £50,000 prize. Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague were the runners up followed by third place Ovie Soko and India Reynolds, and Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins in fourth place. Relationship status: Unfortunately the couple split via text just five weeks after receiving the prize.

2017 - Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies

Kem and Amber had lots of ups and downs in the villa but went on to win the show. Since winning Love Island have both earned a fortune. Amber headed to the West End to star in musical 9 to 5, while Kem has turned to TV presenting. Relationship status: Kem and Amber split after just 132 days of dating after a string of rows - despite saying they might get married.

2016 - Nathan Massey and Cara De La Hoyde
