At this very moment in time, we exist alongside an abundance of men with exquisite, shiny — and crucially to this point, bald — heads. When I asked my co-workers to name which celebrity men with receding hairlines they found sexy, I was inundated with many worthy, enthusiastic submissions: Corey Stoll, Mark Strong, Shemar Moore, Stanley Tucci, Jude Law, and the Rock, to name just a few.

Notably absent from the list of responses was the man upon whom a recent study conferred the title of “world’s sexiest bald man.” According to that survey, first reported by The Sun, the superlative goes to, uh, well, Prince William. Yes, you’re thinking of the right one: brother of Prince Harry, married to Kate Middleton, who was most recently in the news for claiming that the royals are “not a racist family.”

According to the study, conducted by cosmetic-surgery specialists Longevita, Prince William has been described as “sexy” 17.6 million times across blogs and various pages identified using Google. In comparison, Mike Tyson — who came in second place — garnered half that number, and actor Jason Statham ranked third.

The overwhelming reaction to the rankings could be described as a prolonged hmm. Many are gleefully mocking the study, while others are demanding justice for all the bald kings who were overlooked. Meanwhile, others have questioned the integrity of the study’s methodology, including this man, who appears to knows his way around a data set, and whose exhaustive thread on the matter has gone viral.

Apparently, the study was carried out by a medical group that offers hair transplants, which may also help explain the dubious findings. On that note, fret over it no more. Instead, go gas up the bald king in your life today.
