When you are a famous person, you want to protect the things that you’re known for: Mariah Carey insured her legs. Bruce Springsteen insured his voice. Madonna insured her breasts. So, naturally, Nick Cannon has insured … his balls. For $10 million. The father of 12 — who likely just recovered from his whirlwind Father’s Day — recently explained why he protected his family jewels. Entertainment Tonight got the exclusive, thanks to an invitation they received to bring a camera crew to Cannon’s son Legendary’s second birthday party.

“I had to insure my most valuable assets,” Cannon told ET while standing in front of a bouncy house. “We know how to make noise out here so that’s exactly what we did.”

Cannon’s partner and Legendary’s mom, Bre Tiesi, is a good sport about all of this. “Nick is just one of those people that loves to mess with people, and I think he’ll do anything for shock value,” she said with a smile on her face.

You should not take Cannon’s scrotal insurance policy too seriously. It’s mostly just a good advertising campaign for a soap company. Back in June, Cannon worked with Dr. Squatch, and the company bestowed him with the title “Most Valuable Balls.” While this may be a PR stunt, the Masked Singer host’s private parts are actually insured. The soap company took out a very real policy through MMA/Momentous. Should times get lean for Cannon, he could get really into cycling or taunting middle-school boys — those are probably two of the easiest ways to suffer a testicular injury, right?
