A Huge List of Sales: Patagonia and Babaà

You may have noticed some posts from our friends at the Strategist on the Cut. They’ll be dropping in every now and again, sharing their expertise on the basics you don’t have time to research and the weird and wonderful things you don’t yet know you need.

I love a sale-on-sale, and I found a few really good ones. Anthropologie is offering an extra 40 percent off sale items through the end of the weekend, while Bergdorf Goodman is slashing prices by an additional 20 percent. In both cases, I think your best bet lies in the kitchen and home-décor categories — I found some very chic dishes and glassware for over 65 percent off!

Now that we’re just over a week into August, back-to-school sales are cropping up all over the place. I’ve started collecting the deals in my back-to-school deals post, but I’ve also included some standouts below — including our best overall bed pillow and rarely-on-sale Apple products. (And I’d be remiss not to point out that the Strategist Dorm 100 was just unveiled yesterday, for college shoppers.)

As for other deals, my fellow Strategist staffers have been eyeing some good ones this week. Writer Katherine Gillespie has pulled her favorites from Patagonia’s end-of-season sale, and beauty writer Tembe Denton-Hurst has put together a cheat sheet to Dermstore’s Anniversary Sale.

And, as always, make sure to sign up for our email newsletter for even more sales coverage — including extra deals each Friday hand-selected by yours truly.

Brooklinen is offering 20 percent of basically all its bath items through August 13 (and Amazon is price-matching). But I noticed that our favorite fluffy bath towels are even cheaper in select colors — including the “Ocean” one pictured here, which is 36 percent off. Check out all my picks from the Brooklinen sale here.

Our best overall bed pillow is now 20 percent off. Strategist sleep writer Amelia Jerden tested it out and found that it provided the classic squish and contouring of memory foam, but with a more pliant and moldable feel.

From $131

Amelia also recommends this Tempur-Pedic pillow if you’re looking for a cooling pillow made of memory foam.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch
$899

One of the more popular deals with Strategist readers this week has been this 13-inch MacBook Air, which our tech writer Jordan McMahon wrote about on Monday. It’s the best sale on an Apple laptop I’ve seen in a while.

Apple iPad (9th Generation)
$199
$199

And for more tactile note-taking, the latest iPad is $100 off.

Former Strategist tech writer Jordan Bowman approves of these budget headphones from Anker, which he says are “unexpectedly comfortable” and have a 40-hour battery life.

These double-ended markers shake out to just $1 apiece.

Our best on-the-go stain remover is on sale exclusively for Strategist readers through the end of the month with the code 20STRATSTAIN. Great for when your kids comes home from school with yet another stain on their shirt.

Dermstore’s Anniversary Sale is finally back. Starting today and running through August 18, hundreds of Strategist-approved skin-care, makeup, and hair-care products are up to 25 percent off with the code CHEERS. If you’re not sure where to start, you can’t go wrong with EltaMD’s excellent sunscreen — a Strategist-reader favorite nearly every month.

This best-in-class anti-aging serum almost never goes on sale. Its hero ingredient is retinaldehyde, which fights wrinkles and fine lines quicker than other commonly used retinols, according to board-certified dermatologist Dr. Marisa Garshick.

Our best overall eye cream is still a splurge, but one dermatologist says it’s a favorite in their office for dealing with wrinkles, sagging skin, puffiness, and dark circles.

Everything at Selfmade is 40 percent off. The brand’s safflower-oil-based lubricant is formulated with arnica flower and copaiba balsam, which increase blood flow and ease any discomfort.

Anthropologie’s sale section is an extra 40 percent off this weekend only, and it’s quite good! It is a fact that bright-yellow baskets make organizing your clutter 100 percent cuter.

These lovely juice cups are now just under $4 apiece.

Not just for caviar — I have a similar spoon that I like to use for stirring sugar or cream into coffee.

The sale-on-sale at Bergdorf Goodman is full of designer fashion — but I’m a bit more into the home décor. Strategist senior editor Hilary Reid alerted me to this gorgeous plate from Emporio Sirenuse that’s over 70 percent off.

Jenny Pennywood is having an end-of-summer sale, which includes some of our favorite cloth napkins. Strategist senior editor Winnie Yang says they’re “a nice, heavy weight” and “don’t really require ironing” (unlike other linen napkins she’s tried).

Strategist writer Lauren Ro has been wearing this linen-blend top from the Gap all summer. (She also has it in black.)

I’m this close to buying this Marimekko turtleneck.

Some shockingly good deals are afoot at Nordstrom Rack — starting, of course, with some multi-packs of Calvin Klein undies.

Bell-bottoms deserve a full comeback this fall, in my opinion.

And some nice slim-fit jeans for kids (that come in several washes) for under $20.

I know it’s not quite the season for fleece just yet, but this is a really good deal.

There’s plenty of fleece (and some vests) from Cotopaxi on sale, too. I might buy this one for myself.

Speaking of beloved outdoorsy brands, Patagonia’s end-of-season sale is excellent. If you’re not quite ready to let go of summer just yet, consider the humble (but flattering) Baggies.

The classic Houdini windbreaker is on sale in myriad colors, but this bright-coral shade is the cheapest.

Naadam makes our best overall cashmere sweater for both men and women — and all limited-edition colors are $75 through Sunday night.

I think this sage-gray shade might be my fave.

There’s still time to wear this cashmere tank this summer (and it’s easy to layer over a turtleneck come fall).

Sustainable-fashion lovers will be delighted to know that Babaà’s beautiful knits are on sale through Monday. I’ve been eyeing these cardigans for years. (Note that since the prices are listed in Euros, prices shown here are approximations to U.S. dollars.)

Stylist and designer Michele Janezic likes knit pants like these, which come in several cheerful colors and can be paired with a matching top.

Aerosoles Cosmos Sandals
From $76
From $76

Gaby Grossman, the former director of editorial operations at New York, has danced in these heels at seven weddings and compares them to “walking on clouds.”

If you’re looking for more casual footwear, we really like these buckled slides from Mephisto.

The Strategist is designed to surface useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Every product is independently selected by our team of editors, whom you can read about here. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
