Checking In on Colin Jost’s Toes

Colin Jost may be in the midst of a successful stint on Saturday Night Live, but his luck as NBC’s special surfing correspondent was far less bountiful. Within days of arriving in Tahiti, the man with little to no surfing expertise cut his toes on some coral reef and promptly got a gnarly-looking infection. “This might ruin my WikiFeet score but I just arrived in Tahiti for the surfing Olympics and the reef was excited to greet me,” he captioned a July post of his injury. (Please, Colin, I am begging you to stop posting bloody-toe pictures.) Jost was then reportedly sent home by NBC and replaced by a weatherman from Channel Nine in Australia, per Deadline. And while Jost’s new post was apparently always intended to be short-term, the man has not run out of foot-related puns since his little piggies got cut up weeks ago.

“‘Dude, are you okay?’ That’s the No. 1 text message I’ve received in the last 48 hours. Usually followed by, ‘Heard your foot fell off,’” Jost said in a video posted to Instagram on Sunday. “Well, I’m actually fine, and despite what big media conspiracies would have you believe, I wasn’t ‘sent home’ from the Olympics. NBC simply looked at my foot, declared me legally a leper, and exiled me here, to the island of Malta!”

As for why Jost claims to be in Malta: “It also has this casino behind me, where I’ve blown the hundreds of dollars I earned as a surfing correspondent.”

The Paris Olympics (and his surfing-correspondent days) have come to a close, but Colin Jost’s healing journey is everlasting. Wishing him a speedy recovery so he can resume making money off foot pics.
