The Gambia: FGM supporters march to overturn ban – video

Hundreds marched through the streets of Banjul in the Gambia, most in support of a bill that would repeal a ban on female genital mutilation, a practice that has been on the rise in recent years despite activist campaigns to end it. FGM was outlawed in the country eight years ago and is punishable by up to three years’ imprisonment. The decision on whether to overturn the ban has been postponed for three months after MPs called for more consultation
