FROM slathering my face in mud to plunging into an ice bath, there's very little I won't do in the name of beauty.

Something I've never tried, though, is wearing lipstick for more than a couple of hours.

So, when Revlon launched its new Colorstay Limitless Matte Liquid Lipstick, which claims to stay put for up to 24 hours, I knew what I had to do.

I wore this lipstick for an entire 24 hours - and even went to bed with it on.

And, while it's an experience that I'd never like to repeat, it was absolutely fascinating.

Here's what happened when I first applied it, topped it up during the day, and wiped it off the next morning - plus everything in between.

I'll be honest, I waited until the weekend to throw myself into this experiment, as the idea of walking into the office with yesterday's lipstick on is horrifying.

So, at 9AM on Saturday morning, I first applied Revlon Colorstay Limitless Matte Liquid Lipstick in Poster Child.

While all five shades - spaning from deep red to raspberry - are stunning and highly pigmented, I was particularly drawn to this neutral, dusty pink shade.

I was immediately impressed with the lightweight, buttery formula, which is delivered by the patented, lip-hugging applicator that ensures both precision and comfort.

The formula immediately looked shiny and glossy on my lips, but it quickly dried down into a classic matte texture, which didn't set into lines or dry skin.

I did find myself reaching for a tissue to blot away any excess formula on my teeth - but the formula hadn't budged, and even rubbing or pressing my lips didn't seem to faze it.

How To Save Money On Beauty Buys

IF your purse is feeling tighter than ever before and you're looking to save cash on your make-up routine, have you ever thought of trying out beauty dupes?

Here's five of the best recommended beauty buys that are almost identical to the posh versions, but for a fraction of the price.

FACE BASE: If you can't afford Charlotte Tilbury's £52 Magic Cream, why not try a dupe that costs just £5.49 from Superdrug?

TONE IT UP: If Drunk  Elephant's £62 Protini moisturiser is out of your price range, you'll need to check out the new dupe in Home Bargains.

TINTING IT: With Fenty's 'game-changer' skin tint costing an eye-watering £29, a popular supermarket's affordable alternative might just be the thing for you.

GET COVERED: At £29 for a Tarte concealer, the new Primark dupe is much more affordable at just £3.50.

SPRAY YAY: For those wanting to smell fresh, without the price tag, Aldi's new Prada and Chloe perfume dupes cost a fraction of the price.

Despite just finishing two hours of (fairly sweaty) housework, the lipstick hadn't budged.

There was still no lipstick on my teeth, and my lips looked hydrated and pigmented.

The only difference I noticed was that my lip edge was slightly less defined, which could easily be fixed with a lip liner.

However, it was so minimal that I didn't bother, and instead headed out the door to enjoy the warm weather.

Busy mooching around town, I didn't check the state of my lipstick until after I'd finished lunch.

And the results weren't great.

Whilst my top lip remained intact, my bottom lip had taken a hit, and only about half of the lipstick remained.

The smooth, blurred texture that I was so impressed by earlier had disappeared into a dry, chalky finish, accentuating the fine lines on my lips.

However, this is a harsh critique, as I'd never expect any other lipstick to survive lunchtime - but it was made worse by how difficult it was to touch up and reapply.

Revlon Colorstay Limitless Matte Liquid Lipstick has a slightly rubbery texture, which helps coat your lips in product, and while this is a great thing for initial application, applying anything over the top results in a cakey, uneven finish.

It took me a while to get my lipstick back in tact, but after some faffing about with the wand and a cotton bud, I finally managed it.

Come 4PM, I felt exhausted and a bit frazzled, and it seemed like my lipstick felt the same way, too.

The touch-ups I had added earlier had cracked and fallen away (probably thanks to the heat and the ice cream I ate), leaving an uneven finish behind.

However, I was impressed by how well the pigment had clung to my lips, meaning I could buff away the excess product, smooth my lips with a cotton bud and add to the exisiting colour with a little more product.

This only took me a few moments, and I was delighted with the resut.

After dinner, my lips were feeling dry and dehydrated.

When I went to check on my lipstick, I discovered that the matte finish had been totally buffed away, but my lips were left with a lovely tint.

As my lips no longer looked matte, I slicked a little more product on to my lips, deciding that it would be the last touch-up I'd do before bed.

Removing my make-up (and yes, I double cleanse) without touching my lipstick proved very difficult.

I used a flannel to wipe my make-up away, tracing around the outside of my lips to ensure I didn't disrupt the product.

Since touching it up at 8PM, the lipstick hadn't moved and actually looked pretty good - though the matte texure hadn't survived.

Before I hit the hay, I (boldly) swapped my dark pillow case for a white one - keeping my fingers crossed that there would be no lipstick transfer.

I don't think I have ever lept out of bed so fast.

First of all, there was no transfer, mess or evidence of lipstick on my pillow - tick.

When I peered into the bathroom mirror, I was also impressed to see that my lips still looked pigmented, and the shade had clung on.

However, I noticed that wearing the lipstick had dried my lips out and they were beginning to feel a little sore.

Unsuprisingly, the lipstick was very diffcult to remove when I did finally come to take it off, but I eventually managed with a few dashes of micellar water.

If matched with eating, drinking and going out in the sun, this lipstick will not survive 24 hours perfectly.

What it will do, however, is shade your lips for this length of time, but it is important to note that topping it up or reapplying product isn't easy.

However, let's be realistic - no one needs this lipstick to stay put for a full 24 hours, and if you can live with it only surviving about half a day, then it's a brilliant lipstick to invest in.

I loved the highly pigemented, line-blurring formula, which is easy to apply and doesn't require a lip liner thanks to the precision wand.

While I'm never going to wear this for a whole 24 hours again, I'm keeping one in my handbag, as the pigment is just so good.
