And it didn't take him long to flash his new toy on social media.

The Notorious shared a video of him opening the classy oak box to reveal the green strap, platinum casing and green face.

He then added some snaps wearing the stunning watch on his wrist - and joked he got No12, the number in the name of his Irish whiskey brand.

McGregor wrote: "New watch alert!!! #TheHulk Patek Philipe in platinum and honeycomb green! With diamond and crocodile strap.

"1 of just 25 made, and yes you guessed it. I’m number 12, certified.

"They will also never utilise this colour scheme again, such was the difficulty in levelling it out all through the dial. Incredible!

"25 of these only made and all specifically for Ireland’s Weir and Sons Jewellers.

"Due to their long standing partnership with Patek, but more so their great year of sales for the brand. In other words... my purchases lol.

"The first time in Weir and Sons rich history to be bestowed with such an honour, and it’s truly been my pleasure."

McGregor is being tipped to make a return to the UFC Octagon when the coronavirus lockdown is lifted.

Oscar De La Hoya wants to take on the Irishman, who recently hit out at the UFC Lightweight rankings which had him behind Dustin Poirier.

But first McGregor will have to check his watch to ensure the time is right.

Weir and Sons are based on Grafton Street in Dublin and were established more than 150 years ago.

To celebrate the special anniversary, the jewellers teamed up with Patek Philippe to create a bespoke Irish-edition of the Swiss brand's Special Series.

The Stern family own Patek Philippe and CEO Thierry Stern spoke to QP Magazine about the new design and the difficulties in making such a limited range.

He said: "Of course, I will not do it for everybody. You have to have a long history, a specific anniversary, a good relationship. Weirs is celebrating 150 years - not every retailer has that kind of history.

“You’ll please 25 people and [leave] maybe 200 unhappy. But it’s also part of the game. People have to understand that it’s rare.

"Patek Philippe does not produce a lot of watches, we can’t, and when we do something like this we have to bring out something that will last in terms of rarity.”

Patek Philippe make some of the most expensive watches in the world - seven of the top ten ever sold are made by the Swiss manufacturers with the other three from Rolex.

That includes the the No1 spot for Patek Philippe, with their Grandmaster Chime 6300A-010 2019 edition selling in November for a staggering £25.14million.

Notable patrons and owners of their watches include the Beatles, Pablo Picasso, Walt Disney, Albert Einstein, Nelson Mandela, John F Kennedy and Queen Elizabeth II.
