Super Bowl 2024 updates — MVP Patrick Mahomes celebrates in Disneyland ahead of Kansas City Chiefs victory parade

THE Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in an overtime thriller Sunday night - and the celebrations have begun.

Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs on a game-winning drive in overtime capping it off with a touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman to win the Super Bowl.

Mahomes completed 34 of 46 passes for 333 yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception and won MVP for the game.

The Super Bowl-winning QB has arrived at Disneyland and is participating in a parade down Main Street alongside Mickey and Minnie Mouse to celebrate his team’s triumph Sunday night.

    Next year, for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, the emblem is red and green with a purple background.

    On X, formerly known as Twitter, fans immediately predicted which team would capture the Lombardi Trophy in New Orleans.

    "What's with all the purple?" one asked.

    "Chiefs vs Seahawks script," a second said.

    "Bengals-Seahawks," another foretold.

    "The script is written," a fourth noted.

    In 58 years of the Super Bowl, there have been seven double-digit comebacks.

    Patrick Mahomes has three of those double-digit comebacks and is 3-1 when trailing in the big game.

  • Travis Kelce praises Andy Reid after tense altercation

    Travis Kelce shoved Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and yelled at him after a scoreless first quarter in the 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

    But Kelce praised Reid after all was said and done claiming his head coach is the best.

    "I've got the greatest coach this game has ever seen," the nine-time Pro Bowler said.

    "He's unbelievable at not only dialing up plays and having everybody prepared, but he's one of the best leaders of men I have ever seen in my life.

    "He's helped me a lot with that. With channeling that emotion, channeling that passion. And I owe my entire career to that guy.

    "To be able to kind of control how emotional I get. I just love him."

  • Andy Reid reveals what was said in fiery exchange with Travis Kelce

    Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has revealed what Travis Kelce told him during their wild bust-up during Super Bowl LVIII.

    The NFL tight end shoved his boss and yelled at him after a scoreless first quarter in the 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

    "[Travis Kelce]’s wound up so tight," Reid explained.

    "He says, 'Don’t count me out! I’m good! I can do this!'

    "I love that intensity. It radiates."

    Speaking of the incident, Kelce acknowledged that emotions got the better of him and lauded Reid for handling the situation.

  • Mahomes vs Brady playoff comparisons

    Per StatMuse, Patrick Mahomes has significantly better playoff numbers before the age of 30, compared to Tom Brady and he still has two years to go.

    Before turning 30, the Texas Tech product had produced 5,135 passing yards in the playoffs compared to Brady's 3,217.

    He also has 41 touchdowns compared to Brady's 20.

    And he's thrown one less interception (eight), with the same amount of championship rings (three) and one more Super Bowl MVP (three) than the New England Patriots legend.

    In Super Bowl LVIII against the 49ers on Sunday, Mahomes completed 34 of 46 passes for 333 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

  • Fans slam postseason overtime rules

    NFL fans were flustered over the little-known rule and didn't understand the league has a clock in the big game.

    One asked, "What was the purpose of the clock in overtime in the Super Bowl? Why is nobody talking about this?"

    "I had no idea about this rule," another commented.

    "This rule baffles me," a third stated.

    "NFL changes things while they go," a fourth added.

  • Important overtime rule to note

    Kansas City executed a 13-play, 73 yard touchdown drive when Mahomes threw a three-yard pass to wide receiver Mecole Hardman for the win.

    Prior to the game-sealing play, CBS commentators Jim Nantz and Tony Romo made remarks about the clock getting closer and closer to hitting triple zeroes.

    The overtime began with 15 minutes on the clock however, the game would've continued if time expired.

    Referee Bill Vinovich told both teams and TV viewers that overtime is the start of a "new game."

    The Chiefs' first overtime possession would've continued if the clock had expired, and a new overtime quarter would've started.

    Those are different rules compared to the regular season when the Chiefs would've had to score points to either tie or win before the end of overtime.

  • Andy Reid wins third title

    Andy Reid won his third Super Bowl last night when the Chiefs defeated the 49ers in an overtime thriller.

    Reid becomes the third oldest head coach of all time to win a Super Bowl at 65 years and 329 days old.

    Patrick Mahomes was named MVP for the game after an impressive showing.

  • 49ers head coach confirms bad news

    Kyle Shanahan confirmed after the Super Bowl loss that Dre Greenlaw suffered a torn Achilles.

    "I mean, injuries are part of the game," Shanahan said. "They're always a big deal, and it's always tougher when you lose good guys like that."

    After a punt that came with 9:26 remaining in the second quarter, Greenlaw attempted to sprint back onto the field from the sidelines for the next series but he collapsed and injured his left leg, and was carted to the locker room.

    Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman shared on social media that he still hasn't slept since the Super Bowl.

    Hardman caught the touchdown that gave the Chiefs the Super Bowl victory.

  • Andy Reid set to return

    NFL Network's James Palmer has revealed that Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid will be returning next year to coach the team.

    Reid led the Chiefs to their second straight Super Bowl victory and their third title in five years.
