  • Sean Dyche frustrated

Everton boss Sean Dyche was left frustrated with his team's failure to take their chances after the 2-0 loss to Manchester United.

With all due respect to the squads I've had, I've never been here and had that many chances or opportunities. It's very frustrating and we've had a run of that.

We've been performing correctly in so many ways but the scoreline is the stat that's important. That's the bit we're getting on the wrong side of and we've got to continually work on it to change it.

I spoke to the players after the game and you've got to get hurt to score a goal sometimes, as Brian Clough used to say. It can't all be glorious goals, you've got to get hurt and that's what I'm not seeing.

We're getting into areas that might be awkward goals or be hungry enough to get hurt to score a goal, and that's got to change. Once you start scoring those, you then start scoring the nice ones and that's the order it needs to be done in.

  • Tuchel keen on Man Utd

Bayern Munich’s soon to be ex manager Thomas Tuchel is keen to link up with Manchester United.

According to transfer insider Christian Falk, Tuchel’s “primary goal” is to become the next boss at Old Trafford.

The German tactician has announced he will be parting ways with Bayern at the end of the season.

United’s under-fire manager Erik ten Hag is under mounting pressure amid a shaky season.

And reports suggest Ten Hag could be sacked in the summer by new investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

  • Thomas Tuchel prediction

Premier League hero William Gallas claims it is very possible Thomas Tuchel returns to England to take over at Manchester United.

    Gallas told Genting Casino:

I can't say what's gone wrong for Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich, maybe managers can tell you but I don't know.

But, could I see Thomas Tuchel return to Premier League football to manage Manchester United or Chelsea? Anything can happen in football.

Managers returning to the Premier League happens often, and the big clubs want the big managers who have won the Champions League, as Thomas Tuchel has.

  • 'Should have signed Haaland'

Manchester United should have splashed the cash for Erling Haaland back in 2021, insists club legend Dwight Yorke.

    Yorke told OLBG:

You can't bet against Erling Haaland anymore, he'll always score. This is why I said Man United should have bought him for £150m back in 2021.

Haaland is unique, he may miss a few but he'll score most of the opportunities he gets.

Other sides of Haaland's game can be developed, and it will get better because he's only 23 years old.

It's frightening that he scored 36 goals and Haaland still knows he can improve to an even higher level, defenders should be worried for years to come.

  • Kobbie Mainoo's new contract

Manchester United revelation Kobbie Mainoo is in line for a treble-your-money pay rise – less than a year after he signed a new deal.

United plan to tear up the deal Mainoo signed earlier this season and hand him a £60,000-a-week contract.

The 18-year-old is already tied down until 2027, with the Red Devils having the option of a further year beyond that.

The midfielder's pay rocketed to a weekly £20,000 when his first team appearances hit double figures a couple of months ago, as part of an agreement rewarding his rocket rise.

But the Manchester giants have already made up their minds about the teenager who has been the shining light in a disappointing season.

And talks opened earlier this month about fresh terms that would see Mainoo put out of bounds until June 2030.

  • McTominay blow

Fortress Capital Partners went bust last year.

The firm, operated by McTominay’s fiancée Cameron Reading and her dad Ashley, owed £18million, leaving 230 people out of pocket.

It borrowed from investors including Boyzone star Shane Lynch, then lent it out at higher interest rates.

The Readings also splashed out millions on luxury investment properties in the UK, Dubai and Spain. McTominay, 27, lent Fortress £1million to buy one in Portugal.

The Scottish midfielder now stands to get back just £100,000 after administrators confirmed investors are expected to get just 10p of every £1 they put in.

  • Scouts watch Atalanta talent

  • Ronaldo apologises

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally apologized for a rude gesture at fans.

The Al-Nassr hero was banned for one game and fined £6,300 for an arm signal in response to "Messi" taunts from Al-Shabab supporters last month.

The legend, 39, has spoken out to claim his action was "very normal" in Europe - but has promised not to do it again while in Saudi Arabia.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid attacker, who earns £170million a year, blamed his behaviour on the "passion" of football.

The Portugal star told a press conference: "I will always respect the cultures of all countries, as I have respected to this day, but not always what people see is reality.

"As I said and I will say again, it is obvious that I will not do it again in this country, but in Europe, it is very normal.

"Sometimes the passion and excitement of the game leads us to make some mistakes."

  • No regrets

Di'Shon Bernard has no regrets about exiting Manchester United to find his feet - just as a team-mate emerged to find fame.

The defender, 23, scored a Europa League own goal on his only senior appearance for the Red Devils in November 2019.

Bernard told the Manchester Evening News: "Unfortunately, it doesn't work out for everyone playing for United, but that is just how it is; everyone's journey is different.

"Mine, unfortunately, wasn't at United and I just needed to go to a place where I could play many games and build myself back up.

"I think Sheffield Wednesday was definitely the right place for me to do that. It has been a mixed season, but for me personally, I have been playing a lot of games, showing everyone what I can do."

  • Garnacho's 'Infectious'

Rio Ferdinand waxed lyrical about Alejandro Garnacho, following his display against Everton.

“It’s refreshing to see. You have to credit Garnacho. He’s so elusive in those situations and he’s hard to pin down," he said.

“That’s what I loved about him; on and off the ball, he’s one who doesn’t stop and admire. He drives and runs from deep. It’s a clumsy tackle but he invites that.

"I don’t think any of the players at the start of the season expected him to be the player he is now. I think they expected him to be an impact player off the bench.”

Ferdinand added, “The way he moves, he’s infectious. You look at Wayne (Rooney), that was part of his game.”

  • Race for the top four

With Tottenham thrashing Aston Villa, Man Utd have fallen six points behind the North London side.

And they trail Villa by eight points, with just 10 games left to play.

  • Ten Hag's Garnacho praise

Erik Ten Hag has revealed why he loves working with Alejandro Garnacho.

"I love to work with him, but also many other players in the squad and challenge them. He’s a player who likes a challenge, he’s very brave, very confident," he said.

"Our job is to push him to high levels, he’s got high potential, now we have to get the potential out, therefore you have to work day by day.

"When you are young you don’t know what it is to play in a highly competitive league. You need that experience, you don’t know you have to perform in every training session if you want to get better. There are so many areas to improve their game, you need a lot of skills."

  • What kept Solskjaer at Old Trafford

But Solskjaer revealed he turned down the offer on the Stick to Football podcast, brought to you by SkyBet, as Fergie convinced him to stay.

He said: "The gaffer asked me to stay. He said 'you're not going to be the first choice but you will play enough'. And I thought ah okay."

  • The Man Utd transfer Ten Hag was right about

Man United's decision to re-sign Jonny Evans on a free has been fully justified this season.

Centre-back Jonny Evans produced a solid performance in Saturday's 2-0 win over Everton at Old Trafford.

Evans made four clearances, blocked four shots and created two interceptions plus acheiving an 88 per cent passing accuracy.

  • Ten Hag defends Man Utd strategy

Erik ten Hag hit back at questions on Manchester United allowing their opposition too many shots by pointing to the expected goals figure within their games.

United beat Everton 2-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday, but the Toffees had 23 shots and it was the fifth time in six games that opponents have had at least 20 shots against United.

But when asked about the number of shots United were allowing the opposition to have Ten Hag said: "We do it already for a longer time in many more games.

"If you see their xG is not that high and ours is much higher.

"It is their gameplan, obviously. We have players who feel comfortable to defend low.

"But you have to be disciplined and you have to incorporate it very well. It was a team performance, especially our back four with the 'keeper and Casemiro. They have done very well."

  • Ten Hag gives two reasons he loves Garnacho

  • United's solution to Hojlund injury work

Rasmus Hojlund's absence was always likely to be a problem over this period.

Especially after the Dane has discovered his goal-scoring touch for Erik ten Hag's side.

But this meant skipper Bruno Fernandes had to play as a false No9 against Everton on Saturday... and it worked!

Fernandes successfully took his penalty, with Jordan Pickford unable to stop it despite going the right way.

It was his 29th successful spot-kick for United, a record now unmatched in the club's history.

He then selflessly gave up the second to Rashford, helping the forward build some confidence during a difficult season.

  • Sancho finally ends his goal drought

Man Utd loanee Jadon Sancho scored his first Borussia Dortmund goal since 2021 - and he did so in spectacular style.

After being branded the "worst player" on the pitch in the 3-2 defeat to Hoffenheim at the end of February.

But Sancho finally proved critics wrong.

During his eighth appearance back in the Bundesliga again, he finally found the back of the net against Werder Bremen.
