RYAN GARCIA will return to the ring to take on rival Devin Haney on Saturday night.
But Haney's 140lb WBC belt will now no longer be on the line after the challenger weighed in at 143.2lb on Friday.
As Garcia is 3.2lb overweight he can no longer contest for Haney's strap in New York.
The two fighters have been on a collision course to fight for years as professionals, having clashed six times as amateurs.
Garcia and Haney won three fights each when they were teenagers, but now the stakes are much higher.
Haney is the WBC super-lightweight champion, winning the belt from Regis Prograis in dominant fashion in December 2023.
Garcia has yet to win a world title and was stopped for the first time in his career in 2023 against Gervonta Davis.
The 25-year-old has displayed some erratic behaviour in the build-up to his fight with Haney, with some fans saying the event should be called off.
But it looks set to go ahead, and it should be a thriller of a contest.
Garcia said: "To me, it is personal in a way.
"I don't know, something's just in me and just … I don't even feel like answering these questions bro, I'm sorry.
"I don't give a f* about his boxing skills.
"I will beat his a, that's it!
"I'm not a boxing analyst. Forget that dude! He's gonna get it, 4/20, that's it!"
Haney has said: “Styles make fights. I feel like I’m levels above him.
"I feel like he hasn’t fought on that elite level, but when he did, he quit.
"Whether he want to admit it or not, the world watched him take a knee, the world watched him Colin Kaepernick.
"So at the end of the day, what has he really done on the elite level?”
