IN THE grand tradition of Marvel teasers, the best stuff comes during the end credits.

So when you sit down to watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, make sure you don't leave the cinema too soon when those credits roll.

How many Shang-Chi post credits scenes are there?

Fans couldn't wait to watch Shang-Chi and now they are being given even more for their money.

Marvel loves a good teaser and this latest movie is no different.

Film fans are treated to TWO scenes after the movie ends.

There is a mid-credits scene and also a post-credits scene.

What do the Shang-Chi post credits scenes mean?

Mid-credits

In Shang-Chi's mid-credits scene, we see Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) and Katy (Awkwafina) pulled out of their dinner plans by Wong (Benedict Wong).

He needs them for a mysterious new mission, and they are joined by two more Avengers: The Hulk and Captain Marvel.

Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) appear via hologram to talk about the Ten Rings.

They then explain how the ancestral power wielded by Wenwu (Tony Leung) and Shang raises serious concerns for the heroes about the ancient forces in the universe they have yet to come up against.

Carol then tells them how the Ten Rings appear to have acted as a beacon, sending an indecipherable signal to something, somewhere out in the galaxy.

This seems like a nod to the mystic powers of The Eternals.

Post-credits

During Shang-Chi's post-credits scene, we see Shang's sister Xialing (Meng'er Zhang) at her family's fortress in China.

There, we see her going through her childhood things, seemingly reflecting on the dramatic battle that just took place at her mother's ancestral home.

With Wenwu dead, Xialing is positioned to finally take over her father's powerful organization.

See, while Xialing and Shang may have teamed up to take down their dad, this scene gives us the sense that Xialing could continue in the franchise as a hero or as a villain.

Where does Shang-Chi fit in the MCU timeline?

Shang-Chi is a film that takes place after Avengers: Endgame.

The movie is set around 2023 or 2024, making it the most present-day MCU film yet.

According to a few scenes in the movie, fans can speculate on the time period.

Posters for post-Blip support groups can be seen throughout the film, which helps narrow down the time frame to at least 2023.

Another scene references the upcoming Chinese Day of the Dead, which takes place each year in April. This means the movie is set sometime in the spring.

How can I watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings?

Shang-Chi is finally available to watch in cinemas, out September 3, 2021.
