Eamonn Holmes suffers devastating new health blow after nightmare fall at home

EAMONN Holmes has suffered a fall at his Surrey home - leaving the star with a fractured shoulder and in "an awful lot of pain".

The 62-year-old former This Morning star has been left "gutted" by his latest health setback, his rep said today.

The tumble means Eamonn - who recently had spinal surgery to try and ease chronic pain in his back and legs - will remain off air.

The Express revealed the accident left Eamonn with a fractured shoulder and forced him to undergo a second operation within the space of just a few weeks.

His rep explained: "As a consequence of being laid low by major surgery, Eamonn suffered a fall at home a couple of weeks ago and had to undergo another operation.

“He’s naturally gutted by the setback, but the good news is the surgery on his shoulder went well. He’s now receiving fantastic care and resting.

"Sadly it means Eamonn is likely to need a longer period off TV than he first thought in order to get himself better and heal."

He added of the star, who co-hosts the breakfast show on GB News with Isabel Webster: "Despite being in an awful lot of pain, he’s remaining positive.

"He is looking forward to doing what he loves most and being back on TV and presenting on GB News just as soon as he can.”

The star paid tribute to the "wonderful care" he has been given by the NHS.

The spokesman added: "He’d also like to thank everyone who has sent him get-well messages.

"Eamonn’s focus now is solely on resting, and getting better - which he is determined to do.”

The star, who has been walking with a cane this year, has been very open about his health problems.

He has previously spoken about his battle with insomnia because of his chronic pain and in March revealed he has also suffered from shingles in the past.

He will recover at the Surrey home he shares with wife and former This Morning co-host Ruth Langsford.

Speaking in September, the presenter explained the operation he would be undergoing to ease his chronic pain.

He wrote in the Express: "This week a surgeon will cut into my back to hopefully relieve pressure on my sciatic nerves.

"It’s an operation that carries a 20 percent risk of going wrong, but such is the pain and restrictions that I have been suffering for the past 18 months, I’ve decided it is a risk I am willing to take."
