It only took 17 years, but Tom Brady's son is now just as tall as him -- and maybe even more athletic!!

The legendary NFL quarterback showed off his boy's height and his coordination in a happy birthday post Thursday ... and check it out, little Jack is all grown up!!

In a series of pics Tom threw up on his Instagram page to commemorate Jack's 17th trip around the sun, you can see he's now eye-to-eye with his 6-foot-4 father. He's got a helluva golf swing, too. And, according Tom, he's winning pickup basketball games as well.

Legendary golfer Juan "Chi Chi" Rodriguez -- famous for the way he dazzled fans with his iconic sword dance around greens -- has sadly died.

The PGA Tour confirmed his passing on Thursday ... with commissioner Jay Monahan writing in a statement that Chi Chi was "a vibrant, colorful personality both on and off the golf course" who "will be missed dearly by the PGA Tour and those whose lives he touched in his mission to give back."

"The PGA Tour sends its deepest condolences to the entire Rodriguez family during this difficult time," Monahan added.

Before this cool kid -- sprawled out on the family room floor -- could even walk, he was already diggin' into his father's golf bag, laying out his clubs and growing up in San Diego, California before swingin' his club at 9 years old.

Today he plays on the PGA tour (which he won back in 2017,) and has been on his A-game and making big moves at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, but he's no stranger to the Olympic competition ...

At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, he grabbed the gold medal in the men's individual event.

The video captures the aftermath of the incident ... with eyewitnesses telling TMZ Travis launched a shot on the 16th fairway that ended up hurtling toward onlookers -- before smacking a woman in the side of the head.

Check out the clip ... Travis hangs out near the group while the woman's sitting on the ground -- with the person next to her holding a cloth against her head to slow the blood flow.

4:16 PM PT -- The two journalists -- who work for Starcade Media -- just released a statement on the matter ... insisting they did not mean to rile up Jerry Rice with their Chiefs-related question.
