Colleen Hoover’s ‘Regretting You:’ What to know about movie adaptation

Allison Williams and McKenna Grace play a mother and daughter with "warring personalities."

The list of Colleen Hoover books that are being adapted into movies keeps growing.

"Regretting You,” which was released in 2019, is the latest title from the bestselling author set to make its way onto the big screen, per Deadline.

Josh Boone (“The Fault in Our Stars”) will direct and Susan McMartin (“After”) will write the script. Constantin Film will oversee the indie adaptation of the novel.

The news was released days after "It Ends With Us," another Hoover adaptation, hit theaters.

"Girls" star Allison Williams is set to star as Morgan the film adaptation of "Regretting You. Her daughter, Clara, will be played by McKenna Grace.

What is ‘Regretting You’ about?

Released in 2019, “Regretting You” is a novel about "family, first love, grief, and betrayal," per the publisher's description.

The book follows Morgan Grant and her 16-year-old daughter Clara, who have “warring personalities and conflicting goals.”

Morgan wants to prevent Clara from repeating the mistakes she once made (getting pregnant and married “way too young”) and Clara thinks her “predictable mother doesn’t have a spontaneous bone in her body.”

Chris, Morgan’s husband and Clara’s father, once kept the peace at home but he suddenly dies in a “tragic and questionable accident.”

“It Ends With Us," starring Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively and has been garnering buzz.

An adaptation of Hoover's thriller "Verity" was announced in May.
