As Simone Biles prepares to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, fans can take an inside look at what it took for the gymnast to get ready for this moment.

Netflix released a trailer June 19 for a new documentary series on the gold medalist's life, "Simone Biles Rising," showing a behind-the-scenes look into her training — and personal life.

“We are all the authors of our own journeys, and I am in a place in my life where I’m comfortable with who I am and what I’ve been through as an athlete, but most of all, as a person," Biles said in a statement. "Gymnastics is what I do but it’s not who I am, and I’m excited for people to see another side of me outside of competition."

The trailer starts with Biles, 27, reflecting on the postponed 2020 Olympics, where she withdrew from the competition in Tokyo to focus on her mental health.

"I've always had really good intuition about things," Biles says. "And unfortunately, I felt that way about the Olympics."

The trailer revisits Biles' stumble after her individual vault rotation in 2021, and then shows a clip of the gymnast talking to the camera.

"So, having these mental blocks in the gym recently," she says, before she's seen wiping away tears.

After a montage of Biles' childhood plays, the trailer cuts to the gymnast sitting in front of the camera: "But everything that happened — it's a trauma response."

As Biles discusses wanting to quit, she credits the people around her as one of the reasons she kept going with her training, as clips of her family and her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, roll.

"She's bounced back, and she's really opened my eyes," Owens says.

As Biles says life isn't all about the gym, she's seen supporting Owens at football games, as well as touring a home under construction with him. A few moments from the pair's wedding in 2023 also play in the trailer.

"I knew it would be a long journey, but to me it wasn't done," Biles says. "Sometimes you have to take that power back."

At the end of the trailer, the gymnast confirms: "I'm going for another Olympic run."

"I get to write my own ending," she adds.

TODAY's Hoda Kotb previously asked Biles in October what her odds would be if she were to bet $100 on seeing Biles on Team USA in Paris.

Biles responded with a smile, "I think you’d be pretty lucky, Hoda."

USA Gymnastics announced earlier this month that Biles would be among the 16 female athletes competing in the 2024 Olympic Team Trials for gymnastics from June 27 to 30 in Minneapolis, all vying for a spot on Team USA at the 2024 Olympics.

"I know there are young girls out there who look to me for inspiration and are faced with similar challenges, and my hope is that this documentary helps to empower them to be true to who they are and never give up on their dreams. 'Still I Rise,'" Biles said in a statement.
