Stay away they're a nightmare!!!!!!!!

Absolute nightmare!!!! They buy high interest student loans without your consent then even if you pay your student loans on the due date they take a week or more to process the payments and then report you 30-60 days late to credit bureaus.

A bank for criminal citizens not honest ones

They side with the fraudsters rather than the customers. A fraudulent charge ends up on my account and I dispute it and have to deal with getting a new debit card right away and the inconvenience of being out that money while the bank closes the dispute 2 weeks later with zero explanation. Zero refund.

I am in the middle of a dispute with cb…

I am in the middle of a dispute with cb fraud department. I filed the initial claim on 07/03/24 as soon as I noticed an fraudulent charge to my account. I have called no less than 5 times, sometimes 2 or more times per day. The hold times just to get a representative are long, and uncalled for. apparently, the fraud dept representatives and the " management team " have absolutely no clue what it is like to have their account have any fraudulent charges. I am constantly getting the run around from this bank and its representatives, CB was supposed to put my claim through as an " expedited request " on 07/03/2024, and as of this morning it still has not been done. I am now being told by " a supervisor " that it can take another 5 business days for the " provisional credit " to be awarded in my favor. then the first rep i spoke to advised me to call back on July 17th 2024 for an update. This bank and their lack of competence has had me so upset that my health is now suffering... the supervisor that i was speaking to today, apparently thought that it was funny and began laughing and speaking to another representative about my claim.. he never put me on hold and just kept repeating himself " i can put in an urgent provisional refund request, but that can take up to 5 to 7 business days to review and to process... their customer service is definitely lacking, and empathy .. well that does not exist either, apparently to cb they find a very upset customer amusing, i will be sw my husband about finding an new financial instutuion very very soon. When we first joined cb the customer service was amazing. Now you are lucky if you can even get through to a representative and let alone anyone that actually speaks and understands english.

My favorite conversation with Citizens…

My favorite conversation with Citizens customer service representative ,after waiting a extremely painful amount of time on hold , to resolve an issue : Already, I have received yet another incompetent bank rep , which were so plentiful, I needed to dumb it down and play bank trivia with the staff and ask simple banking questions that are common knowledge: My question was this :
“My concern that you are handling my account and seem to have no knowledge of anything I want you to answer this simple banking question. “What is an ACH transfer?”
He answered: “That is completely confidential and I’m not allowed to disclose that information ”.

Need I say more!!!

This was another example:
“If your the floor manager I want you to tell me my balance on my account as of current , since we are both looking at the same account and screen .
$300 she said
Well mine reads $400..
If i can’t follow my account how can you ??
This is just easy math and yet you fail

Worst bank ever , I was not sure who was more of a criminal the person who stole money from my account or Citizens with the fraud department that did nothing to help but ruin my credit , Yesss me to death , put me on hold , send me statements that you can’t follow at all , charge me 2x , detracted but kept the penalties and then more charges
even, charged me penalties from from the stolen transactions on the returned funds depleting it so fast i didn’t even know they were returned funds from the stolen. And repeated the same mistake. To come to the conclusion i’m responsible for all the funds . I had no control of my account and watched my funds disappear .Since the actual bank was closed i had watched my funds drop and Monday morning i ran to the bank to save what was left from penalties and leaving me with practically nothing. 1200 from 3000 in less then 2 days !! They are nothing but thieves and i hope they have nothing but loss and dead moms on mother’s day

Equity loan and customer service horrible

My wife and I decided to apply for a HELOC with Citizens. We were immediately approved pending an appraisal. it took over 6 weeks from pre-approval to closing. Just prior to closing we opened a Citizens checking account so we could deposit HELOC funds to pay contractors etc
After spending over 30 minutes on the phone and being assured the HELOC checks and checks for the newly opened checking were on the way, Nothing!
The customer service is absolutely horrible and the people at our local branch aren't any better.
Do not do business with Citizens.

Applied for a HELOC with Ruth Vargas at…

Applied for a HELOC with Ruth Vargas at Citizens (nice at first then completely incompetent and unhelpful). Have a FULLY PAID mortgage on $420,000 home as well as $500,000 home paid off in Fla and over $800,000+ in investments (so thats about $1.5 Million plus in assets) - income of over $90k/yr between Social Security and IRA and an 820 credit score. They do NOT look at assets, investments, or equity but base all their decisions on some arbitrary income requirement and they would only qualify us for $125k HELOC because we did not have enough income on 1099.

If we had pulled out an extra 5k a month from ROTH IRA and then put it back into the same ROTH IRA, they said out income would be sufficient for a $300k HELOC but we didn't WITHDRAW enough money each year from our HUGE $1.5 Million assets.

This company is LOUSY - they give you conditional approval but then come back and change the requirements.

And if you ever get Ruth Vargas as a mortgage person, she will waste HOURS of your time making you submit documents only to find out she has NO CLUE what she is doing.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH RUTH VARGAS or CITIZENS!!!

This bank is the worst

This bank does nothing for Businesses and I keep on getting declined on Saturdays during 11pm and 6 am. So if your out late your card can be declined. It's embarrassing. The app goes down and you can't even check your account This bank is the worse and I wish they would go out of business so no one goes through this. Please do not use this bank it's a joke and shouldn't even be operating.

This bank is trash and inconsiderate. I opened and account and a few days later I was going to deposit money into my account and they locked it. When I reached out they told me they’re closing my account and cannot tell me why. Like who does that ?

BEWARE of the promotions in general

BEWARE of their promotions in general! Was sent a mailer about opening an account and setting up direct deposit and all those other things for a $600.00 bonus. Before setting it up I was assured by the branch rep that I was eligible and everything was good. Fast forward to the date I should've gotten the bonus and they said 'oh sorry, you weren't eligible after all so that's that'. These people are either incompetent or just consistent liars. Either way do NOT do business with them.

Worst decision I’ve made in recent…COMPLETE SHAM

Worst decision I’ve made in recent years. There’s not one single thing that I can say good about this Ghetto Fabulous outfit. My card has been frozen on several occasions while I was entertaining business clients and on vacation. I even went into the bank to try and rectify the issue once again yesterday. I created a new pin. They said that the card was working fine from what they saw and l was good to go. I’m at an event for Retired Professional Athletes here in Atlanta today and the card still isn’t working. Thank God I have several other bank cards on my person. I’m always trying to support Black business and I’m always embarrassed and disappointed for trying to do so. The Feds need to shut this South Baptist preacher’s sham don’t. Even when I go inside of the bank it looks like something from the 60’s.

Disrespectful, insensitive service!

After ten years banking here, they closed my Business Checking and Credit Card in 2023! This resulted in hundreds of dollars in fees from Citizens and other banks who returned checks. The local manager told me they did not have a fictitious name on file (not true, I have one with the state). Last week I was told they are closing my existing checking account. I was told by a rep when I asked why, that they are not obligated to give me a reason?! I have never been treated with less respect, or dealt with more insensitive people in my life

Citizens continues to behave like a 2nd…

Citizens continues to behave like a 2nd rate bank. I made a large deposit, which requires a hold to confirm. Citizens sent me a letter 2 days later stating date funds will be available. Then 3 days after the date the letter states funds are to be release, nothing. I call into the local Lake Orion, MI branch & am told they show funds will be available in an additional 3 days. Why send the letter, set expectations & not follow thru. People, if you are looking for a bank I do NOT recommend Citizens.

Citizens bank sucks

Citizens bank sucks. I still have a retirement account with them, and the bank unilaterally elected to send me a monthly check as a distribution from my IRA account. I asked them numerous times to stop and was told yes this will stop but alas, this invasion of my retirement account continues and I am still receiving monthly checks that I didn’t ask for.

I am going to close this account and move my funds elsewhere but this takes time and meanwhile Citizens bank does with my money as they please.

Great Service for a HELOC

I wanted a HELOC and they had the best rates. From application to funding was about 10 days. The whole process was painless and seamless. Julia Soane kept me informed every step of the way and explained the process clearly, I was a little nervous doing this. Tiffany Blehm was my remote notary and she was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had If you need a HELOC, I highly recommend.
