Useless card for travel

Useless card for travel. When they say BA AMEX, you don’t expect to get charged for foreign transactions. But it shows up in the statements later. They should be transparent about this fee in the payment authorisation windows that pops up during a transaction. Even the normal NatWest VISA card has no fees for this! BA AMEX do a 1% equivalent in “rewards”, but take 3% in forex fee. It’s a scam.

Deliberately Misleading

Deliberately Misleading: I booked a flight on the amex travel site. It presented as Oman Airways. only one connecting flight was on oman. All were on Turkish airlines. This agency is deliberately misleading and you cannot even make changes as they make it really hard to get any form of support by having functions that send you to the airlines. They don't even provide correct passenger codes that can be used to enter for the airlines they sell tickets for. Its a horrible experience. This experience started in April and I am flying out in a week and its still the same.

Amex customer service is going downhill

Amex customer service used to be great but has gone downhill. The repI spoke to today was rude and lied by saying that I did not sign up for the disney bundle until april while I am looking at the charge in my march bill. She also said that the button to sign up for the disney bundle credit does not exist on their website even while I am looking at the sign up button on their site.

I had AMEX Delta travel card; they waste your time if you want to cancel

I had AMEX Delta travel card. Wasted half an hour trying to cancel the card after first year and ask for refund of the annual fee they charged. They made me call again just to ask for the refund to be deposited to my bank account. That account had been associated with my card since beginning and is used to make payments. They wasted another half an hour of my time to verify it was me, when it should've been normal practice to just reimburse money to the bank account that has been paying them. Otherwise checks are sent by default. I'm guessing they want people to forget they are leaving money behind when cancelling. They offered a free Delta Blue card but didn't mention it a month ago when I had called and could've gotten it without any retro pay. I was willing to switch to Delta Blue but didn't want to pay the one month fee when didn't even use the card even once and had called within the cancellation period. They lost a customer over $10 of retro pay they weren't willing to refund. Good business!

I've been a member for more than twenty Years!

I've been a member for more than twenty years as American Express has changed dramatically. All representatives speak with a foreign accent and are of no assistance to any when a problem arises. American Express has turned into a banking institution trying to entrap the unsuspecting. We would not at all advise any of using American Express or becoming part of their deceitful ways.

Their personnel are now rude, arrogant, and uncaring of others.

Do not trust Amex

Charging extra charges for car insurance that was never signed up for - claim I did it online but I did not. I also told them to stop this program twice but they have not - their response is “it’s not written in their agents notes”. Seems a convenient way to milk extra money from their customers with only their word that you owe it. No proof has been supplied to me on what they claim only that they will not refund the fraudulent charges put on my account. Do not trust Amex.

Not what they used to be

Not what they used to be. Great customer service in the past. Now it is all based in the Philippines. Also their system for notifying you of your charges to protect yourself does not work, especially on Saturday nights. They must be doing system reboots. I do not get emailed on Saturday nights for many of my transactions. This just goes to show they do not take customer security seriously. I get all my notifications from my Capital One, MasterCard, and other cards at the same merchants

I don’t like this company

I don’t like this company . They never increase my credit limit since I had the card open since 2017 . Stuck on a 1,000 limit customer service is terrible . And I had a second card which is a green card and my spending limit was taken away and they decreased my spending limit to 1,000 I’m gonna close this card today and put the first AMEX card in my drawer.

Avios points - Don't bother!

Don't bother trying to book reward flights using Avios points from the Amex British Airways Premium Plus card. It's a complete waste of time and money. BA will just ruin your holiday as they are untrustworthy and don't care about their customers...
We recently booked flights to Shanghai using avios points and just received a cancellation email for the return leg two weeks before flying. I spent over an hour on the phone with Customer Services who were rude, aggressive and completely dismissive and told me that as I had booked using points they couldn't help. Eventually they booked us on a return flight going via Frankfurt adding hours to an already long journey. What is the point of paying an annual fee of £300 and collecting avios points on any spend when you are treated like an inferior customer when you book?

Not what thet used to be.

I've had Amex cc for a number of years. I didn't even use it for close to a year, but when I did my payments were always higher than the minimum, and in many instances I paid the balance off to avoid accruing high interest. I recently had a major emergency and used the card to pay. I received an email a few days later from Amex telling me they are reducing my credit limit on the card. Really! The caveat is not only have I always paid on time, or early and paid off the balance, or substantially over the minimum, I realized in all those years they never bothered to even increase my limit but had the audacity to reduce it when I had a emergency situation. I wouldn't recommend Amex at all, and I heard of other customers they did the same to.

Whats happening with Amex

Whats happening with Amex. It's increasingly the case that retail, restaurants and other establishments wont take Amex. Now I've just have an email from eBay saying they are no longer taking it. Amex is clearly too expensive for traders and being too greedy withe their charges. When are the people who run Amex going to learn they are killing the business?

Beware of luring in with false benefits

We applied under an airline card/amex with an offer of $400 off statement. I got billed and when asked they said 4 years ago you had a amex card, and listed 5 cards!!!! So disqualified, but they don't tell you that before they open the account and make you charge!!! I will close and never deal with this bate and switch again.

Going down hill

Going down hill, rapidly. I used to be a huge AMEX fan, but not anymore. Not only are less and less places taking it, they are telling me because of my credit score (which is 899 out of 1000) I am not eligible to take part in the referral scheme, meaning I am missing out on lots of points. WHY can they pick and choose who can benefit from this scheme.

Poor Customer Service Nasty…

Poor Customer Service Nasty experience.
I recently raised a dispute and I was asked to send my supporting documents which I did.
The documents clearly shows where the Merchant promised to refund me back. But to my dismay American express failed to take any further action to get the money back to my account.
When I called them for update. The Amex Agent will respond as if they were not aware of the dispute. I asked to be put to complaint Team. I narrated my story again, but at the end it was a waste of Time. I was not given any reference for my complaint.
I have been using Amex for some years but it appears they might have changed hands.
Their Customer Service is now very very poor. It's time to ditch them.
Beware Beware Beware

Poor AMEX Service

Ordered replacement card which 8 days later did not arrive. Told card would arrive in 3 more days. Nonsensical excuses from supervisor! No way to treat 39 year customer. Could have overnighted card immediately to residence via FEDEX but evidently didn't care.

No issues noted

No issues. I've had an American Express Clear credit card for a number of years with them and they never lock me out of my account for mysterious unexplained reasons. The credit limit increase process is pretty easy, though it would be nice if they gave you some idea of what kind of range to ask for (I looked up third party suggestions via search). It was a bit weird that they didn't auto-increase my credit limit over time like my other credit cards, but some might see that as a benefit.

American Express Centurian Lounge is an Illusion

I am an American Express platinum card holder. American Express does not faithfully honor the benefits that card holders are entitled to. Do not purchase this card!
In particular, my primary objective is to access the Amex centurion lounge at certain airports, notably the Charlotte airport. On repeated occasions during the last two years, the lounge at the Charlotte airport is FULL, and no further guests are admitted. The waiting list is often one hour. I have encountered the same problem in other airports.
On one occasion, I waited in a long line to check into the lounge. Finally, when I arrived at the check-in desk, I was unceremoniously told that the lounge is full, access is not guaranteed and that I would not be admitted. I was perplexed and dumbfounded. During the discussion, I asked if, at a minimum, I could use the toilet as I had been waiting a long time. I was told “no absolutely not“ – I could not be admitted.
AE has clearly oversubscribed the number of platinum card holders. The lounges always busy or full. At times they appear to be understaffed. Often the tables and seating areas are dirty. The food is Mediocre.
I’ve called American Express. Customer service on repeated occasions. They are nonresponsive and do not commit to any compensation a refund and do not commit to having a supervisor or manager call me back. Customer service is like a “black hole” They recite that changes are being implemented to alleviate the problem. I have heard this same response multiple times for almost 2 years. The bottom line – – Amex provides no recourse for aggrieved card holders who are denied entry into the centurion lounge.

I made a payment on my American Express…

I made a payment on my American Express card thru a customer service representative and was told I could cancel payment and schedule it for an earlier date. I cancelled payment 3 days before it was to be processed and made an earlier payment. American Express processed my cancelled payment and the payment I scheduled earlier! They are making it very difficult to get a refund on second payment!!!! The next payment I required to make is not due for another 3 weeks and I have other obligations to pay American Express does not care !!!!! You can’t trust them
