Be careful…they do not support you in…

Be careful…they do not support you in case of fraudulent merchants if the value of your purchase is below 100£!
They take the merchant side even though your consumer rights are clear.
If I knew I would have never chosen them but this is not highlighted when you join!

Terrible customer service and terrible card…

Terrible customer service and terrible card. All they care about is their $750 annual fee. Don’t expect any customer service. I tried 5 times to add my son to my account and they sent 5 card and each one was defective. Terrible service.

I have been with Amex for 5 years and…

I have been with Amex for 5 years and spend around £350k a month on business spend. They have stopped both of our cards and cannot give an appropriate reason. I have been on hold and explained many times, promised calls back with nothing. Absolutely awful, it is not worth the stress taking these cards out.

I took out an American Express Nectar…

I took out an American Express Nectar card and if spent £2k within three months, get 20000 bonus points, which is worth £100. I was about £200 from reaching that milestone when a customer service op told me that I'm not eligible because I've had a previous AMEX card. Absolutely fuming and I will never be applying for an AMEX card again. As soon as my balance is paid, I'll be requesting an immediate cancellation.

Also, I requested a refund for a service I had not received, and the customer rep was not helpful. Said I had to wait 14 days, as I told him that was the supposed refund policy, but the Wordpress plugin seller has not even responded to my queries of the errors on the plugin, so doubtful he will refund me.

Why are people so unhelpful. I'll have to wait another bloody week just to get back in touch with them.

AMEX - I do not recommend.

Absolutely ridiculously bad service

Absolutely ridiculously bad service
They made a mistake with my account application over the phone, so I was not eligible for a $700 welcome bonus credit. After acknowledging the error was on their end, a manager stated they could document the feedback but would not do anything about the credit.
I cancelled the card immediately. What a waste of time and money Amex is.

Deliberate barriers to setting up direct debit

It’s quite scandalous that there’s absolutely no way to set up a direct debit in their app or website without manually printing out paper forms and mailing them. I’ve had no such issues with any other company. This seems deliberately designed to create a barrier against setting up automatic payments, leading them to cash in on late fees and interests. Predatory business practices like these should not be accepted.

They defend the dishonest merchants

They defend the dishonest merchants by demanding proof of cancellation where there is none to supply. You're better off with a CC company that will look after your best interest. I've cancelled all my cards with Amex after having them for nearly 30 years.

Reduced credit limit with no notification AND removed any credit I had remaining

I started a business and over time had maxed out my Cobalt card. I have in the last year started to build that back up and had $1100 in credit again. That was with no notice or reason removed AND my credit limit decreased. VERY poor business practice and is forcing me to close my account. I will NOT pay a yearly fee, pay my bills on time, continue to build back up the credit I have available only to lose it all at their discretion.

Useless card for travel

Useless card for travel. When they say BA AMEX, you don’t expect to get charged for foreign transactions. But it shows up in the statements later. They should be transparent about this fee in the payment authorisation windows that pops up during a transaction. Even the normal NatWest VISA card has no fees for this! BA AMEX do a 1% equivalent in “rewards”, but take 3% in forex fee. It’s a scam.

Faded glory

Poor service, no manager callbacks, no support in disputes, antiquated systems, card not accepted in many merchants. Amex has become a waste of time - other reward cards are available.

Horrible little card company

I found no store accepts their card because their high commissions and the ones accepts Amex raising their prices to pay those commissions. It's not good for shop or not good for shoppers. People should just ditch those types of companies.

Amex customer service is going downhill

Amex customer service used to be great but has gone downhill. The repI spoke to today was rude and lied by saying that I did not sign up for the disney bundle until april while I am looking at the charge in my march bill. She also said that the button to sign up for the disney bundle credit does not exist on their website even while I am looking at the sign up button on their site.

Deliberately Misleading

Deliberately Misleading: I booked a flight on the amex travel site. It presented as Oman Airways. only one connecting flight was on oman. All were on Turkish airlines. This agency is deliberately misleading and you cannot even make changes as they make it really hard to get any form of support by having functions that send you to the airlines. They don't even provide correct passenger codes that can be used to enter for the airlines they sell tickets for. Its a horrible experience. This experience started in April and I am flying out in a week and its still the same.

Fraud and RACIST!!

Fraud and RACIST!! I had to deal with 2 "annual reviews" within 2 months.
First "annual review" my account was frozen, asked for details, sent them over, account re-activated within 1 day; second "annual review" within 3 weeks, provided again same details and account closed!
Their reason: my salary is not enough; my reply: my salary is close to £110,000 per annum....
Then after 2 weeks they close my wife's 2 business accounts because we work together....
Their reason: The company's annual turnover has decreased since we joined; our reply (with evidences): Our annual turnover has increase 78% in 2 years, allowing my wife and I to get a higher salary each...
And this is a provider that puts customers and honesty first..... Strongly doubt it!!

Just a group of RACIST individuals, upset that others (we are from Italy and lived in UK for over 20 years working ALL the time) make more money and settle in this country.... RACIST!!

Lost my card over 18 months ago and they will not cancel it nor provide me access to my online account

Lost my card over 18 months ago. Which means I have zero access to statements, because they're only available online. And I have zero access to my online account, to even see what is due, or when, because you have to have your card and card number for that. I've called and emailed repeatedly asking them to cancel that card, to send me a new one, to provide me with statements, etc. All that they do is verify my contact information, my income, and then ask for my bank account information so they can set up automatic payments. I have explicitly started phone calls by telling them I am ONLY calling to cancel the card that was lost 18 months ago to ensure there are no fraudulent charges and to regain access to my online account and statements so that I can ensure they are probably applying payments, and they have failed to do either for me in over 18 months.

This company is a scam that cares ONLY about keeping the bills coming to you and getting your bank account information. There are a million other credit cards out there, and literally every single one is more legit than American Express.

Disputed transaction

I recently had to dispute a transaction as a company I had ordered from had closed after taking payment but not sending my order. One quick phone call and it was all sorted and refunded. Very impressed.

Cash back on the Platinum Credit Card is also a great benefit.

Whats happening with Amex

Whats happening with Amex. It's increasingly the case that retail, restaurants and other establishments wont take Amex. Now I've just have an email from eBay saying they are no longer taking it. Amex is clearly too expensive for traders and being too greedy withe their charges. When are the people who run Amex going to learn they are killing the business?

Amer Ex Anarchy

Amex is fast becoming another useless garbage funder in the middle class credit market. Their aquisition of Credit One is prime example of David/Goliath takeover than taking a pretty consistent cc issuer that, although higher rates, didnt punish good paying customers. Ive paid my Amex account 185 straight months and they have NEVER raised my limit. Now that they have aquired Credit One, expect lots of hassles, reducing credit lines while raising fees. Wheres anti-trust when we need it?

Poor AMEX Service

Ordered replacement card which 8 days later did not arrive. Told card would arrive in 3 more days. Nonsensical excuses from supervisor! No way to treat 39 year customer. Could have overnighted card immediately to residence via FEDEX but evidently didn't care.
