“It fits everything I need”
I guess it was in April 2022 that my TikTok suddenly went viral. It happened one day, after I picked up this “banana bag” at the UNIQLO on Oxford Street. On the way home, I stopped into a shop for a snack and was amazed at how much the bag could carry. It looked so small, but it held everything, including the enormous on-ear headphones that I’m always using. Back at home, I made a TikTok of myself emptying out the bag. I felt the urge to tell everyone about how much this bag could fit, and also how affordable it was.
I had no idea what was about to happen, but suddenly the likes were pouring in. Seeing me pull all that stuff out of my bag, people started leaving fun comments like “it’s giving Mary Poppins,” referring to the bag in the movie. I’ve since moved to a new town, but sometimes when I meet new people they say “Hey, I saw your video!” Since it’s worn across the body, the bag doesn’t make your shoulders ache, and the overall style is really appealing.
To me, UNIQLO is the perfect brand for someone looking to buy high-quality basics at affordable prices. They also have all kinds of unisex items, but most of all, the styles aren’t swayed by the times. The way I see it, having UNIQLO in your wardrobe takes the headaches out of fashion.
Here are all the things Caitlin pulls from her bag. “I use it every day because it can fit everything I need: camera, cookies, keys, wallet, makeup, lip balm, medicine, perfume, headphones.”
“I have a beige UNIQLO trench coat as well. The beige color is just right. It matches everything. I also have several of the T-shirts from PEACE FOR ALL. Donating the proceeds to victims of violence is something I really believe in.”
Starting this season, the bag will be available in four Keith Haring prints. “Haring’s artwork is so classic. It’s a great collaboration that makes these bags even more fun,” says Caitlin. “I’d like to try one out with a black and white outfit.”
