Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg — born Calvin Broadus — got his rap name from his mother when she jokingly likened him to the character Snoopy from the Peanuts cartoon. He got his break into the music industry appearing on Dr. Dre’s debut solo single, “Deep Cover,” and on Dre’s debut album, The Chronic, in 1992. Snoop released his first album, Doggystyle, one year later.

Throughout his career, Snoop has collaborated with artists like Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Will.I.Am and Pharrell and has hosted several TV shows, including Doggy Fizzle Televizzle, Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood and Dogg After Dark.

Snoop has been arrested multiple times for drug possession, firearm possession and assault. In 1993, Snoop was convicted of first-degree murder alongside his bodyguard McKinley Lee for the fatal shooting of Philip Woldemariam. The rapper was driving the car from which the gun was fired, but he and his bodyguard were acquitted in 1996. Snoop has previously been banned from three countries: United Kingdom from 2006 to 2010 for vandalism charges, Australia from 2007 to 2008 for his past criminal convictions and Norway from 2012 to 2014 for maijuana possession.

Snoop married his high school sweetheart, Shante Broadus, in 1997. The couple share three children: Corde (born in 1994), Cordell (born in 1997) and Cori (born in 1999). Snoop also shares son Julian Corrie (born in 1998) with Laurie Holmond.
