A family affair! Meryl Streep and her look-alike daughter Mamie Gummer are sharing the screen in the upcoming film, Ricki and the Flash—and that means the blonde beauties are popping up together on the red carpet, too!
The three-time Oscar winner, 66, and Gummer, 32, who play mother and daughter in the film, hit the carpet at the film’s NYC premiere on Monday, Aug. 3. While Streep donned a long-sleeved black dress with white pleats by Valentino, plus two-toned L.K. Bennett pumps, her oldest daughter modeled a sleeveless top with a black and blush color-blocked A-line skirt and ebony sandals.
However, even cuter than their complementary neutral-toned ensembles were their huge smiles at the event! The ladies seemed more than pleased to be promoting the movie together, alongside their costar, ’80s pop god Rick Springfield (who plays Streep’s bandmate and boyfriend), who often posed between the ladies while rocking a violet tuxedo.
When asked what it was like to work with her daughter, Streep naturally couldn’t stop gushing. “It was great to work with my daughter! I was blown away,” she told Us Weekly, but added, “I’m not objective! Don’t ask me this! But I think other people have corroborated that [she’s talented], so it’s [been] really fun.”
The mom of four (she also shares actress Grace, model Louisa, and musician Henry with husband Don Gummer) also added, “I’m very proud of all my children—all my daughters and my son—yeah. It’s not just her. I’ve got some stars at home too!”
Streep (who worked with a baby Mamie in the 1986 movie Heartburn) then quipped, “I’ve been working with my daughter for 32 years, and finally I had somebody that directed her that she listened to.”
