Kamala Harris capped off the Democratic National Convention with a speech focused on the future and a pledge to unite the country. Touching on everything from reproductive rights to the Israel-Hamas war, she told the standing-room-only audience in Chicago: “The future is always worth fighting for…. We are not going back.” The address has been called hopeful and heartening, “pitch perfect,” and “remarkable.” Even the gang at Fox News gave it props.
All of which likely contributed to the complete and total meltdown Donald Trump had last night. In a series of characteristically deranged Truth Social posts that began by criticizing Harris for saying “too many” thank-yous “too rapidly,” the ex-president claimed Harris “will take us into a Nuclear World War III”; “HAS LED US INTO FAILING NATION STATUS”; talked about her childhood too much; “IS A RADICAL MARXIST”; caused October 7; and is laughed at by “the Tyrants.” He also told his followers, “Walz was an ASSISTANT Coach, not a COACH,” and at one point asked, “IS SHE TALKING ABOUT ME?”

Harris is currently ahead in the national polls by 3.6%. In a possible sign of how unglued he’s become by all of this, Trump took to social media this morning to make one of the most laughably absurd statements of all time:
