Lady Gaga has never been one to dress down for a red-carpet occasion. So, for the Golden Globes 2019 red carpet, nothing but Cinderella-esque Valentino Haute Couture would do. The strapless periwinkle gown featured voluminous puff sleeves and a dramatically sweeping train - hence the army of assistants hastening to arrange it artfully around the actress, who was nominated for her role in A Star Is Born, as she stood before the cameras on the red carpet. Twitter users were quick to pick up on the gown’s similarity to the one worn by Judy Garland in the 1954 version of A Star Is Born, making the look a touching homage to the actor who had made the role famous.

A frosting of Tiffany diamonds - five million dollars' worth, to be precise - around her neck completed the look, along with the most modern iteration of a blue rinse imaginable. Perfectly colour-matched to her gown, we might add. Because when Lady Gaga does red carpet, she doesn’t do it by halves.
