Maya Jama Has A Moment Of All-Out Versace Glamour At LFW Men’s

Less than a week after Maya Jama attended Vogue’s Cartier dinner, the Radio 1 DJ is mixing in fashion circles again. Jama joined GQ at the closing party for London Fashion Week Men’s, and made a splash among the suits in a multi-coloured Versace dress.

Vogue celebrations have previously seen Jama look to London-based designers, including Simone Rocha and Aadnevik. But for the city’s last hurrah for the spring/summer 2020 shows, it was Donatella Versace’s bold design that ticked all the boxes for the rising star. The one-shoulder patchwork dress featured a mash-up of swirling florals and religious iconography, which Jama pared down with a black top handle bag from the Italian house.

When Team Vogue interrogated her on Instagram TV last week, Jama declared that she was a true midnight owl: “It will be the death of me if we’re being honest.” She went on to demonstrate “flicking [her] eyes” as her party trick and Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” as her karaoke tune of choice.

“The thing I get asked most is, ‘How are you so yourself? How do I get that confidence?’” Jama previously told Vogue. “I always respond, ‘Do whatever you would do if nobody was watching; don’t ever hold yourself back because of other people.’” This realness, rather than her eye-rolling abilities, is the reason Jama ends up on every important guest list.
