The Paris couture shows are the ultimate example of fashion theatrics and this week’s autumn/winter 2024 edition was no exception: Miranda Priestly stopped by Demna’s Balenciaga show, the Chanel bride wore a Princess Diana-style wedding gown and Kylie Jenner’s face was shrouded in a pink Schiaparelli veil. It gives an indication of what we will see on the red carpets over the next 12 months (surely Kris Jenner is currently making calls about getting one of the Kardashian-Jenners in the Jean Paul Gaultier hook-and-eye fastening naked dress), but it doesn’t exactly provide ample inspiration for your own weekend outfits. Luckily, not all guests arrive in prosthetics to transform into Ms Priestly or pavement-sweeping couture gowns, and so the street-style images captured outside of the shows can still inspire those of us who aren’t exactly couture clients.
Vogue’s street-style photographer Phil Oh was on the ground – navigating the chaos of a fashion week staged in a city preparing for the Olympics – taking pictures of the high-octane moments, as well as what the editors, models and stylists wore to the shows. After combing through hundreds of looks, we have pulled out five easy-to-copy outfits that can translate into your own summer wardrobe.
