In July, as the Writers Guild of America strike rolled into its third month and members of the Screen Actors Guild prepared for a walkout of their own, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) revealed its slate of nominees for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards. Initially slated to air on September 18, 2023, the ceremony was postponed until tonight, January 15, due to said strikes—but thank goodness they’re finally here.
So, how did Emmys voters—well—vote? Fan favorites like Abbott Elementary, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, The Bear, The White Lotus, Ted Lasso, Succession, and Barry were all recognized, as well as more under-the-radar offerings like The Other Two and Fleishman Is in Trouble.
