Model and new face of Estée Lauder, Fei Fei Sun, is known for her striking cheekbones and flawless skin. But, as she ventures to share in this tell-all beauty tutorial, she works hard for that near-perfect complexion.

Hailing from Weifang, in the Shandong province of China, the New York transplant preps her face every morning with no less than eight targeted skin-care products. In a mint green satin robe, her raven hair tied back into a bun, Sun washes with Lauder’s foamy facial cleanser and an accompanying scrubbing facial brush. She pats her face dry with a white tissue instead of a towel, a toxic-free trick the Fashion Week runway favorite surely learned backstage with the best makeup artists in the business. After shaking a toner and applying it all over—“don’t forget the neck,” she says with her chin up and eyes closed—she admits that she uses a concentrated recovery face mask every single morning. “I know,” she jokes, “everyone is so busy. . . .” Once the hydrating products are in place, Sun wastes no time and continues to apply a supercharged repair serum with the palms of her hands.

“Now, I’m going to show you my secret weapon,” she says as she pulls out a gleaming gold wand about the size of a razor. “It’s called a facial massager,” she says of the tool she found in Japan that helps the lineup of active facial essences and ingredients sink deeper into her skin. “I love it.” Afterward, she sweeps it along her chin, cheeks, and forehead for a sculpting effect, always with an upward motion, then dabs on a thick moisturizer and lip conditioner. Now Sun, whose lips are already rosier than before, is finally ready for makeup.

The key to Sun’s no-makeup makeup look is that she only applies foundation, concealer, and powder where needed. So, after a few spots here and there of Estée Lauder’s Double Wear foundation, which she smooths on with a white sponge, and concealer, which she pats into place with her fingers, a warming technique that offers ultimate absorption, Sun lightly brushes her entire face with a powder to help everything stay in place.

Now, Sun is onto her large, deep brown eyes, which, after a brushing of nude shadows and a quick clamp of a neon pink eyelash curler, are ready for not one, but two different black mascaras. She uses the larger wand for her upper lash line, and the smaller “magic” version for her lower set.

After highlighter and blush are applied to the apples of her cheeks and the tip of her chin, she is onto her brows, which, because they are naturally dark and think, she simply brushes down with a finger. “Easy,” she says, before reaching for a deep Merlot lipstick shade that she pats down to the perfect velvety stain. And yet it’s the final step of her morning routine that may be Sun’s favorite: “You make my day,” she sings as she mists on a veil of Estée Lauder’s Modern Muse perfume. Sounds like a winning model-beauty prescription.
