Paul Andrew and Salvatore Ferragamo have made it official. The shoe designer was named as the brand’s design director of women’s footwear this morning in a move that has been widely rumored within the industry. Andrew’s appointment comes following Massimiliano Giornetti’s departure in March after 16 years at the company. “We are excited to welcome such a dynamic and established talent into the Ferragamo company,” said president Ferruccio Ferragamo in a release. “We have a proud history of nurturing design talent and we believe that Paul’s credo very much matches the spirit at the heart of our house.”

Andrew started his namesake brand in 2013, after holding positions at Donna Karan and Alexander McQueen. From the start, his collections were lauded for their chic silhouettes and comfortable shapes, winning him the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund prize in 2014, as well as accounts with top retailers like Net-a-Porter and Barneys New York. “Salvatore Ferragamo has been an iconic reference for shoe design and craftsmanship for nearly a century. It is a great honor to be invited to lead the creative vision for the future of its women’s shoe division,” said Andrew.

Andrew’s debut collection for Ferragamo will be for the Pre-Fall 2017 season. In addition to taking on the role at the Italian label, Andrew will continue to produce his eponymous women’s and men’s shoe collections.
