This year showed us that corsets are more than just regulars in a period drama’s costume department. From Adidas X Gucci’s sporty corset look that completely shuts off the boudoir element to Versace FW 22, the waist-cinching ensemble has come a long way. We've watched corset become the answer to the ultimate revenge dressing trend. Today’s corset isn’t made to be a burlesque reminiscent or faint-inducing—it’s all about having a good bustier top that’s a perfect blend of sophistication and rebellion. 

If you want to go for an effortless yet impactful look, bookmark Janhvi Kapoor’s all black sleek corset jumpsuit. Previously, the actor has styled the garment in many iterations—be it the electric blue mesh corset or incorporating the bodice in her mini dresses. Exuding rave-ready energy, for this one, Kapoor wore a quintessential pair of black pointed pumps and a futuristic pair of sunglasses as her choice of accessories. 

Besides its regencycore status, the high-octane appeal of this party staple comes with a risque factor that makes it a glam-inducing protagonist. If you tend to gravitate towards edgier styles, take a cue from Deepika Padukone, Kiara Advani or Bella and Gigi Hadid. With deconstructed styles gaining momentum in the fashion sphere, designers have challenged the basic framework of corsets in a myriad of styles. Case in point? Textile artist, Yash Patil’s corset top donned by Bhumi Pednekar, that featured tactile surfaces, layering and surface adornment. Pednekar’s penchant for contemporary corsets can be traced back to a vintage printed corset worn as an over-garment layer as well. Masaba Gupta, Dua Lipa and Hailey Bieber are fans of deconstructed styles as well.
