Once upon a time, back in 2011, Willow Smith was still a hair-whipping 10-year-old with big plans to star in the Jay-Z-produced remake of Annie. That dream is no more. Along with the announcement that Will Gluck will direct, Sony just confirmed that Willow is no longer attached to the project; she has apparently “outgrown the role of Annie,” which is code for “she has started Tumbling under the name Saule Pleurant and can no longer credibly sing the words the sun’ll come out tomorrow.” But maybe she and Jaden can remix “Hard Knock Life” for the soundtrack.
