For once in this country, a populist list has done something good. Two underdogs nobody saw coming at the beginning of this year, Shaboozey and Chappell Roan, both celebrate landmark achievements on the Billboard “Hot 100,” per Billboard. Shaboozey made it to No. 1 with his track “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” making him the first Black man to have both a “Hot 100” and a Country No. 1 hit and the second Black person to do so, following Beyoncé with “Texas Hold ‘Em.” That deserves a big ole yeehaw, we’d say. “HAPPY A BAR SONG DAY TAKE A DOUBLE SHOT OF WHISKEY 4 ME!” Shaboozey tweeted.

Plus Chappell Roan continued her meteoric rise by breaking into the top ten for the first time with“Good Luck Babe.” That means she’s got both a top-ten single and a concurrent top-ten album in The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which now sits at No. 6 on the Billboard “200.” For her, we give a rousing “slay queen.”
