Union Signs Riverdale Soccer Standout

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union (Tenn.) University women‘s soccer team has signed Ashlie Watson of Murfreesboro, Tenn. to a scholarship. Watson will enter Union this fall as a freshman. Union head coach Brandon Boylan says, “We are very pleased to have Ashlie be a part of this recruiting class. I think she will be a threat in our attacking third that we lacked last season. We are excited she has chosen Union to continue her academic and athletic endeavors. She comes from a great family and will be a great fit with the university and our soccer program.” Watson, a 5-foot-5 forward, prepped at Riverdale (Tenn.) High School where she played soccer for three seasons. She helped lead her team to three state titles (2008, 2009, 2010). Watson was named all-area as a freshman and sophomore, while being named the offensive player of the year as a freshman, sophomore and senior. Watson scored 74 goals and tallied 61 assists in three seasons of high school soccer. Off the field, Watson earned the Academic Honors Award. Watson is the daughter of Mark and Laura Watson of Murfreesboro and is a member of Crescent Church of Christ.
