Local law enforcement agencies and nurses are spending their week learning all about car seats for children. The West Tennessee Child Passenger Safety Center hosts seminars across West Tennessee educating anyone interested in how to install a car seat properly and the laws that go with it. The certification class is taking place this week at the Lexington Fairgrounds where officers from Lexington, Crump, and Carroll County learned all about car seat safety. Speakers at the event say the laws in Tennessee are constantly changing and it’s important for the community to stay up to date. “Tennessee has the most stringent seat belt laws, it’s more than fair for all the law enforcement agencies as well as the nurses and different health care agencies to become certified technicians,” said organizer Glenetta Dave At the end of the 32 hour course, members of the community are encouraged to come by throughout the day at the Lexington Fairgrounds and have their car seats inspected free of charge.
