Educator of the Week: Ashley Fletcher

It’s time to recognize this week’s Educator of the Week, presented by the Tennessee Education Lottery.

Ashley Fletcher is a 1st grade teacher at East Chester Elementary School in Chester County. She has been a teacher for eight years, spending the majority of her time with Chester County.

“This is my eighth year teaching,” Fletcher said. “I taught fifth grade for my first year just outside of Nashville. Then I moved here and have been teaching first ever since.”

Fletcher says that she wants to make sure her students feel valued, even when challenges happen in the classroom.

“I hope that they feel loved and valued. We are going to love them through the challenges and celebrate their success,” said Fletcher.

As an elementary teacher, Fletcher has to teach a variety of subjects. She says that sometimes her favorite subjects can change over the years.

“My favorite subject, had you asked me a couple of years ago, would have been math. But, I think I am leaning more towards English,” Fletcher said. “I love being able to lay that foundation and knowing that that’s going to get them through the rest of their lives.”

Fletcher is now eligible for the Tennessee Education Lottery Educator of the Month award.
