Educator of the Week: Diane Daniels

It’s time to recognize this week’s Educator of the Week, presented by the Tennessee Education Lottery.

Mrs. Diane Daniels is a 5th grade science and social studies teacher at Westover Elementary School.

Daniels has been teaching for 36 years, with 30 of them being full-time.

For 28 of those years, she has taught 5th Grade. Daniels stated that to her, they are the best age group to teach.

“My favorite part of teaching is loving these kids,” Daniels said. “They’ve become a part of my family and as the years go, we are all family.”

Daniels stated that she’s thankful for the time she’s had to connect with the kids.

“I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference. I wanted the kids to begin to love school and love Science and Social Studies, which are my favorite subjects,” said Daniels.

Daniels stated that she and her husband had many teachers in their family.

Daniels also wanted it to be known that it’s more than just her that should receive this this honor.

“So many teachers in this school deserve Educator of the Week. We all worked really hard,” Daniels said.

Although she’s retiring this year, Daniels wants to continue to push the kids to learn and educate themselves as much as they can.

Daniels is now eligible for the Tennessee Education Lottery Educator of the Month award.
