This week’s nominee is Jenna Bragg, a 7th grade math teacher at North Parkway Middle School in Jackson.

She enjoys getting to know her students and feels that it helps as situations may arise throughout the school year.

“My grandma was actually a teacher,” Bragg said. “And I used to hangout in her classroom when I was little, and just seeing that influence that she had on other kids made me want to have that same influence on these kids.”

And when the influence translates to a lesson learned, one of her favorite moments happens.

“Light bulb moments that you see throughout the day, especially when kids are really struggling, and all of a sudden you see the light flash on – that makes it worth all of the times you had to explain it before,” said Bragg.

And as you may know, middle school can be a hard and weird time in a student’s life, but Bragg doesn’t shy away from teaching them.

“The kids, they’re hilarious in middle school, and very misunderstood,” Bragg said. “So they are definitely my favorite part.”

Bragg has taught for years in various capacities such as social studies, and 8th grade math, but teaching 7th grade math is her favorite.

Bragg is now eligible for the Tennessee Education Lottery Educator of the Month award.
