Educator of the Week: Jordan Stack

It’s time now to recognize this week’s Educator of the Week, brought to you by the Tennessee Education Lottery.

Jordan Stack teaches 10th through 12th grade Geometry at Bolivar Central High School.

He’s been teaching for 11 years and has been Assistant Principal for two.

“My favorite thing about being a teacher is interacting with the kids,” Stack said. “I like making fun of them, they like making fun of me, so we give it back and forth. I just like having that relationship with them.”

His mom taught school for over twenty years before passing away when Stack was fifteen years old.

He said the great impact she left on others inspired him to pursue a career in education.

“It goes back to to when my mom passed away,” Stack explained. “I had a lot of people, you know, guide me, helping me. The person that I feel as though kinda influenced me the most was Carla Wilhite. She was actually an Educator of the Week back when I was in high school, and she kinda just helped me through that process, she told me some some things that I, you know, have never forgotten. And she was a great inspiration and still is today.”

Stack also mentioned the joy of his own family having connections with his students.

“I got two, two kids, and my son loves watching the basketball team, he loves those kids and he talks about them at home all the time. They don’t know that but, you know, he loves them and just seeing that interaction between my kids and the kids here, it’s just a, it’s a great experience overall.”

Stack expressed that being nominated is a great honor, and tells future educators that the profession is hard, but rewarding.

Stack is now eligible for the Tennessee Education Lottery Educator of the Month award.
