Jackson neighborhood continues July 4th tradition

JACKSON, Tenn. — A local neighborhood continued their Independence Day tradition Thursday morning.

Jackson’s Pine Tree Drive neighborhood started an annual Fourth of July party and parade over 60 years ago.

Today’s celebration involved morning treats and a non-motorized parade.

Kids decorated bicycles, scooters, and wagons in red, white and blue.

Everyone gathered to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, sing “God Bless America,” and have a little prayer before the kids paraded down the street.

“It’s fun for the people who have lived here for 60 years to watch the youngsters, and it’s fun for the youngsters to be out enjoying our country,” said event host Andrea Hazlehurst.

The same house is tasked with hosting the party every year, and when it was sold, the new owners agreed to keep the tradition going.
