Fire from improperly disposed fireworks destroys vehicles

SALTILLO, Tenn. — Improperly disposed fireworks led to a fire in West Tennessee, officials say.

According to the Hardin County Fire Department, a UTV and a pickup truck were destroyed on July 4th at a home in Saltillo.

The department says that left over fireworks were the cause of the fire, and shared that citizens should be very careful when disposing of shot fireworks boxes.

In a social media post, Hardin County Fire Chief Melvin Martin stated that once shot, fireworks should be wet down and left in an open area for 24 hours before disposal.

Although the vehicles were destroyed, the department says that the home was saved due to a quick response by firefighters.
