Weekend Fun: Activities to enjoy across West Tennessee

JACKSON, Tenn. — While Independence Day may be over, the fun continues this weekend.

SAVANNAH BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL, JULY 5 & 6

The 46th annual Wayne Jerrolds Savannah Bluegrass Festival is Friday, July 5.

The event began at 5 p.m. and will continue until 9 p.m.

This event is also free and they welcome you to bring your lawn chairs to sit in.

The final festival day will be held on Saturday, July 6, beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until 8:30 p.m.

Rhonda Vincent and the Rage will perform at 7:30 p.m. that Saturday.

CARL PERKINS CIVIC CENTER CONCERT, JULY 5

Friday, July 5, Lathan Warlick returns to his hometown to put on a concert at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

This is a free event that’s open to the public.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

RACE FOR TASTE EXPO, JULY 6

Ches Oli’s ‘Race for Taste and Business’ expo will also be held on Saturday, July 6 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

There will be over 75 vendors and food trucks.

“We’re also going to have a lot of local businesses from around different counties that will be selling their product and partnering with each other. Just getting to know each other a little better,” said Trevetta Folks, owner of Ches Oli’s.

There is also a $1,000 dollar cash prize.

ENSLEY CHAMPIONSHIP CELEBRATION, JULY 6

Hunter Ensley, a baseball player from the University of Tennessee, has become known for his winning slide when the Vols played against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Vols won the Championship against the Tar Heels 6 to 1.

On Saturday, July 6 at 11 a.m., Ensley will be escorted from city hall to the courthouse for a national championship celebration.

This will be in Huntingdon Tennessee.

SHILOH ARTILERY DEMONSTRATIONS, JULY 6 & 7

Shiloh National Military Park will have their artillery firing demonstrations on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7.

On Saturday, July 6, the first demonstration will be at 10 a.m. and the last one will be at 3:30 p.m.

On Sunday, July 7, the first demonstration will be at 11 a.m. and the last one will conclude at 2:30 p.m.

Each demonstration will be approximately 20 minutes.
